While you earn 70 stars in Super Mario 64 Binding can seem almost impossible, a Speedrunner called Bubzia took things to a new level. During a live stream on March 19, Bubzia drew an incredible performance and broke the 70-star eye-binding world record. According to Speedrunner, driving was completed 1:16:41. This impressive time beat the previous world record, which he already had, by over three minutes. Of course, Bubzia was relieved to have pulled out of the incredible performance and talked about how he felt with his chat after the Nerve-Rack experience.
Speedrunner breaks incredible 70-star eye-binded world record
Bubzia claimed he was “finished” with 70-star runs Super Mario 64. Instead, he said he wanted to put his view of breaking the scary 120-star eye-binding record. Like the 70-star record, Bubzia has the best time for this challenge at 11:22:42. However, there seems to be room for improvements in the 70-star eye-binding Speedrun, as they revealed that they lost some time in the Rainbow Ride part of Super Mario 64. That being said, only time will show if he or anyone else can go lower than 1:16:41 in the future.
This eye -bound faster disc is impressive when considering it can be difficult to collect 70 stars in the game in just over an hour, even when you play the game normally. Not being able to see what happens on the screen can be overwhelming and reveal Bubzia's incredible mastery of Super Mario 64. It is worth pointing out that he has recently broken several other world records for the game, including in 1-star and 31-star categories while he is blindfold.
It will be interesting to see what other Speedrunning Records players can break in Super Mario 64. As players continue to set new best times, the margin continues for mistakes to shrink and drive these runs seemingly closer to the edge of what is possible.
