Strongest Dragon-Type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: ZA Mega Dimension

Because there are more than just six Pokemon types, when it comes to making a team Pokemon Legends: ZAor any Pokemon game for that matter, you need to narrow down which ones are most important to you. Of course, if every Pokemon on your team is a dual-type Pokemon, then you can effectively hit cover for twelve types, but it doesn't always work that way.

Whether or not you can squeeze coverage for twelve different types on your team, the one Pokemon type everyone tends to keep an eye on is Dragon-types. Among the eighteen different types, Dragon is arguably one of the strongest, which is why several Pokemon that fall under this type often dominate the meta, which is why you should consider one for your Legends: ZA team.

Tatsugiri

While Tatsugiri might not be the best of the best Dragon-type to have on your team, if you're not particularly interested in dominating ranked matches, it can still be a fun addition. Plus, with its new Mega Evolution, it can still absolutely deal enough damage to get you to the end game.

Being dragon/water, this Pokemon will likely still be one of the strongest on your teamalthough not the strongest Dragon type overall. Also, and this is purely aesthetic, it is one of the few dragon-like Pokémon in Legends: ZA that does not have the traditional dragon or dinosaur-like appearancewhich might suit your team better.

It's not just the strongest Electric-type Pokemon that will shock you either.

Mega Sceptile

Sceptile in Pokemon Legends_ ZA

While players were disappointed that the Gen 3 Hoenn starters weren't part of Legends: ZA's base game, thankfully the Mega Dimension DLC made up for it. That said, Sceptile's base form is only Grass-type, so you need Sceptile's Mega Evolution to take advantage of the Grass/Dragon typing.

However, to get this Mega Evolution Stone, you need to participate in the ranked online battles using the link game feature. Sceptilite debuts in Season 5but as with previous Mega Evolution Stones earned via this method, it is assumed you will be able to get it in any season, and it's worth the effort to be able to use one of the best Mega Evolutions in the game.

7

Mega Feraligatr

Mega Feraligatr in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

This is maybe earliest opportunity you have in Pokemon Legends: ZA to gain access to a strong Dragon typesince Totodile is one of the first three starters you can get.

While Feraligatr is not a dragon type in its base form, like Sceptile, it is gets this typing with its Mega Evolutionwhich can be the first Mega Evolution you get in the game if chosen as your starter. So even if you don't plan on keeping it long-term, it is one of the strongest in the base game and can still hold its own, even in the Mega Dimension DLC.

6

Latios/Latias

Latios in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to catch these Pokemon until the Mega Dimensions postgamebut that doesn't make them any less powerful, and if you still have some side quests or battles to complete, they're not a bad option to have by your side. To be both Latios and Latias are the same type, Dragon/Psychicyou can choose the one that appeals to you the most.

You will also likely collect their Mega Evolution Stones before you even find and capture one of thembut that means you're good to go as soon as you get them. However, keep in mind that legendary Pokemon are currently banned from online ranked battles.

5

Baxcalibur

Mega Baxcalibur in Pokemon Legends_ ZA

Since Baxcalibur is basically Pokemon Godzilla, it's no surprise that this beefy Pokemon is another strong pick for your team if you're looking to fill a Dragon slot. Also being an ice type, Baxcalibur offers a wider defense against other dragon typeswhile losing the traditional weakness to ice itself.

This means that in online ranked battles, where glaceons are still plentiful, you won't be taken out as quickly as some of the other Dragon Pokémon on the field. Plus, Baxcalibur's Mega Evolution is already available as a ranked Battle rewardso you can benefit from it too.

Although Baxcalibur is not weak to ice, it unfortunately has some other weaknesses. So while you'll be in better shape against the Ice-types that most players bring to ranked matches to deal with Dragon-types, you have to watch out for things that other Dragon-types don't, like Steel-types.

4

Dragonite

It probably comes as no surprise that Dragonite is one of the strongest Dragon-type Pokémon you can have on your team. If you've ever participated in ranked battles, then you know that Dragonite often makes a real appearance due to its pseudo-legendary stats and deadly typing.

This powerful Pokemon, which has only been made even stronger now that it has a new Mega Evolutionis not something you want to encounter, which is exactly why you should have it in your own team.

3

Zygarde

Trainers posed with Zygarde in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Before the DLC, Zygarde was the Dragon-type to have on your team if you were good at including a Legendary Pokemon. Now that Rayquaza is in the mix, that's not necessarily the case, but that doesn't mean Zygarde is a bad option by any means. With its unique moves and incredible stats, Zygarde is not only one of the strongest Dragon Pokémon in the game, but one of the strongest overall.

Also, since Rayquaza can't be used until you've completed the DLC and Zygarde is available at the end of the base game, you can actually use Zygarde throughout the entire Mega Dimension DLC. That said, the only downside to Zygarde is that it cannot Mega Evolve until it is in its complete formwhich only happens after Zygarde drops below 50% HP, meaning you have to take damage to use it.

2

Garchomp

Trainers posed with Garchomp in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

With legendary Pokémon banned from online ranked matches, there's no arguing that Garchomp is the best Dragon-type to have on your team. With his crazy stats and dual typing of Dragon/GroundGarchomp is truly a monster in almost any battle. Apparently Pokemon know this too, because it is one of the few Pokemon to receive a second Mega Evolution in the Mega Dimension DLC.

In addition to its traditional Mega, Garchomp also gains a Z Mega Evolution, making it even stronger and faster than the original Mega Evolution. That said, keep in mind that Z Mega Evolution burns through Mega Energy quickly in exchange for the additional boost. Of course, even without its Mega Evolution, Garchomp won't put up a fight either way.

Garchomp's Z Mega Evolution Stone will be released as part of an eventsimilar to the Mewtwo and Diancie events.

1

Rayquaza

Rayquaza posed with a trainer in Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Whether you're happy about it or not, there's unfortunately no way around that fact Rayquaza is the strongest Dragon-type in the game, and just one of the strongest Pokemon overall in all Pokemon Legends: ZA and Mega Dimension DLCs. In addition to its crazy stats, it is also the only Pokémon in the game that has the unique advantage of Mega Evolving through a move and not a rock.

This means that not only does Rayquaza have a Mega Evolution to make it even stronger, but it doesn't take up Rayquaza's item slot. So, you are free to give it an item to make it even stronger. Life Orb can be used to increase damage, Sharp Beak can help power flying moves, and Shell Bell can help keep Rayquaza in the match longer.

Whatever you use will only make this disgustingly powerful Pokemon that much more terrifying to opponents. That being said, thank goodness, Rayquaza is among the banned Pokemon in online ranked battles at the momentbut there is always a chance that it will change.
