Street Fighter set kept separate from Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, WWE Champ reveals

For some time now, the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat live-action movies have been taking pictures of each other, either on stage at The Game Awards or in interviews ahead of the movies' scheduled release dates. It's the exact kind of real-life beef that has made the lead-up to both movies a little more interesting.

However, it turns out that the beef isn't just limited to those who star on opposing movie sets. No. Because, at least according to WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, he and Roman Reigns have some real issues as well. Issues that seemingly prevented Guile (Rhodes) and Akuma (Reigns) from interacting with each other on set.

In a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet's in-depth interview show, Rhodes revealed that he and Reigns are a little frosty, long after the duo settled their televised issues at WrestleMania in a wrestling ring.

Ragdoll Physics is the best thing to happen to WWE 2K in decades

WWE 2K26 is gloriously violent in the most video game way possible.

“I think they thought we were going to fight or have real trouble because they were very aware on the radio of us [and saying]'Going out with Guile, Akuma comes up,'” Rhodes said (thanks to IGN for the transcript). “They were very aware that we weren't going to cross paths. And we did, because I had to tell him the direction of one of the trailers, and that was our only moment, and it was very awkward.”

All this can end up as an elaborate ruse

It is unclear if there is any moment that would have caused either superstar to continue to have issues with each other. The two headlined WrestleMania main events against each other, and in the lead-up to those events, in storylines, they took shots at each other's abilities, families, and skills.

“It's a crazy relationship,” Rhodes said. “I have nothing but admiration for what he's done and accomplished, but I don't know what it is. I don't even like to talk about it because I don't know what it is. It's just a very strange relationship.”

The filming of Street Fighter took place long after their in-ring feud ended, so it's not like they needed to be separated to keep kayfabe, or the magic of the ring alive if watching cameras were around.

There's also a really good chance that this is all just made-up guesswork on Rhodes' part. Wrestlers are almost always in character, and as honest as the interviews have been on Van Vliet's show, Rhodes can simply embellish a few things to make it seem like the two aren't on good terms in the event they ever resume their feud.

In other words, good wrestlers lie, and they lie a lot. Rhodes is no exception.

But if there is real beef, it's a shame it might not lead to a fight in the movie between Guile and Akuma. I mean, isn't that the whole point of Street Fighter?
