Steam users have been getting all kinds of free games lately, and now two more are available for purchase. With it being the holiday season, it's really no surprise that more free Steam games have been given away than usual, and it's safe to say that PC gamers are eating well this year.
Several free Steam games have been given away in December so far, and there are likely more to come, especially as we approach Christmas. The only catch when it comes to free Steam games is that they expire, so if you miss the opportunity to add a game to your library, you're out of luck. But if you manage to get one of the free games, they're yours to keep forever.
PC gamers have just 24 hours to grab the Epic Games Store free games for December 18th
The Epic Games Store's holiday giveaway is now in full swing, with PC players having just 24 hours to claim the newly launched freebie on December 18th.
As of this writing, there are two free Steam games available, both of which expire on December 25th at 12:00 PM CST. Until then, Steam users have the chance to claim Rat Quest and The Deed: Dynasty for their digital libraries, with the two games providing completely different experiences.
Steam free games right now
Rat Quest is a 2D platformer with “positive” reviews where the stakes are incredibly high as one misstep means starting all over again. This type of tough platformer isn't for everyone, but those looking for a challenge should definitely make sure to grab Rat Quest while they still can.
The Deed: Dynastyat the same time, is a narrative-driven adventure game where players must commit a murder and then successfully frame someone else for it. The Deed: Dynasty was originally released way back in 2016 and has received a “Highly Positive” rating from Steam users. As Rat Quest, The Deed: Dynasty will have limited appeal compared to some other games, but you can't break free.

The Epic Games Store Free Mystery Games promotion is back for 2025, with a new free game to pick up every day. The first free mystery game was The legacy of Hogwartsstands as one of the biggest free games ever given away on the platform. The free game on December 18 was Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Helfollowed by Eternal nights, Blood West, Unfortunately we have closedand Paradise Killer.
