Steam basically confirms Fallout 3, New Vegas Remakes

Some recent activity on Steam indicates that two beloved RPGs, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegasmay receive remakes in the near future. The first entry in the Fall-out series to be developed and published by Bethesda, Fallout 3 proved to be a radical departure for the franchise in 2008, turning what was an isometric RPG into an open-world first-person title. The game proved to be a major critical and commercial success and shaped the future of Fall-out series with its subsequent titles.

The 2010s Fallout: New Vegas came as a spinoff of Fallout 3this time developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Upon release, the game was criticized for its bugs and errors, which marred what was otherwise an overall high-quality product at the time. Obsidian worked to fix these issues, and the game has since been re-rated as one of the series' high watermarks and one of its most commercially successful entries.

Reddit user notes Steam activity pointing to new Fallout re-releases

Across the Fallout subreddit, users have noticed issues with various Fall-out records on Steam, which everyone is pointing towards Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas accept reissues. User Homer4a10 tried to leave a review for Fallout: New Vegasbut was met with a message that said, “You must wait until this product has been released before writing a review for it.” Homer4a10 has noted that this problem also affects Fallout 3and users have reported the other Fall-out titles have not encountered the same problem. However, comments pointed out that some games outside Fall-out series such as Batman: Arkham City and Kerbal Space Programhas produced the same message.

User Excellent-Court-9375 found that after writing Fall-out in Steam's “Search” field, an option to browse the franchise appears and lists 12 games. But the resulting Fall-out the series page only shows 10 titles. It's unclear whether Steam counts non-game content, and some Reddit users speculate that this discrepancy could be the result of the storefront counting region-locked versions of those titles.

Like any gaming rumor or speculation, it's important to take all of this information with a grain of salt. Steam is naturally prone to bugs, and this could very well be a temporary concatenation of showcase weirdness. Although rumors of re-releases of these two Fall-out games have been flying for a while now, some Steam errors don't necessarily confirm their existence.

Even so, with reissues of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas would certainly be exciting suggestions. Fans would be able to enjoy two of the most beloved entries in the series in a whole new way, while an updated retail version would open the door for a new legion of players to experience them for the first time. Remakes of these two iconic titles would also serve as a great way for Bethesda to hold fans over for a while Fallout 5 continues to develop.
