To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Stardew Valleycreator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone shared a retrospective video that took a look back at some never-before-seen footage of early builds of the game and also revealed Clint and Sandy as the next two romantic marriage candidates coming in update 1.7. Stardew Valley greatly expanded with update 1.6 in 2024, update 1.7 looks to add even more exciting content to the game with Clint and Sandy getting more interactive content, along with additional changes coming to the game.
When Stardew Valley originally launched in 2016, it quickly received a positive reception from audiences, with ConcernedApe revealing that the game sold 40,000 copies on its first day of launch. Several patches were released in the days that followed Stardew Valleys release, which gained respect from the audience as ConcernedApe fixed bugs to improve the game and made it more enjoyable for users. Like new updates for Stardew Valley were released over the years, more farm types were added, NPCs got individualized dialogue, more languages made the game available globally, multiplayer was released, and Ginger Island became a staple for exploration beyond Pelican Town. Ten years later, Stardew Valley is still thriving with a hugely dedicated player base, and fans can finally look forward to two new marriage candidates.

Who are the new marriage candidates in Stardew Valley Update 1.7?
During a 10th anniversary video, ConcernedApe shared a heartfelt thank you to fans for playing the game for so many years, for sharing community mods and player-made content, and for being a part of his development journey. Most excitingly, ConcernedApe confirmed it 
Clint and 
Sandy will be the new marriage candidates entering Stardew Valley Update 1.7. Players first meet the blacksmith Clint as they learn about how to get their equipment upgraded to make farming, mining and foraging more efficient. Sandy can be found after completing all four Vault Bundles for Stardew Valley Community Center and unlock the bus that goes to The Desert. Clint is often seen as a shy and unassuming character who tries his best to fit in, while Sandy is known to be flamboyant and confident. Both have been requested as romantic NPCs by Stardew Valley fans, and many players finally get their wishes fulfilled with Update 1.7.

Gamers quickly took to social media to celebrate the reveal of Clint and Sandy as the new marriage candidates, with many teasing that it's well past time for Clint to move on from 
Emily and others were overjoyed to finally woo the alluring Sandy and bring her home to Pelican Town. Some were disappointed that 
Wizard was not one of the romantic points of contact in Stardew Valleyand others were disheartened to learn it

Demetrius will remain married, at least for now. Each of the marriage candidates i Stardew Valley include their own unique heart events, meaning players can see different cutscenes depending on which citizens they choose to build platonic friendships or romantic relationships with. Thanks to the changes to Clint and Sandy that come with update 1.7, fans will have new dialogue and heart events to look forward to, further expanding the game's replayability.
Despite some disappointing reactions from players who have their own personal favorite characters they would have liked to have liked, the consensus across the board was Stardew Valley the community towards ConcernedApe's retrospective and marriage candidates has been overwhelmingly positive.
