Square Enix Video compares Final Fantasy 7 Remake Switch 2 performance to other platforms

A new video released by Square Enix showcases a comparison between the game for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2 and other platforms. The beloved RPG served as one of the biggest third-party games announced to get a port to the newest Nintendo platform, adding some new features like “Streamlined Mode” for players who are more focused on the story. The Switch 2's performance has served as one of the biggest questions for many big name ports from other consoles early on. The long awaited Switch 2 port Fire Ring reportedly experienced some serious issues with its early versions, dropping as low as 15 FPS in demos presented at this year's Gamescom. Square Enix has already spoken about before Final Fantasy 7 Remakes performance on the Switch 2, confirming that the game will run at 30 FPS on the Nintendo platform. A new video now provides a visual presentation of the remake's Switch 2 performance.

A new video uploaded to Square Enix's official YouTube channel compares the performance of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2 to other platforms. The showcase features a side-by-side of the Switch 2 version in TV mode, the PS5, Xbox Series X and PC versions of the game, with much of the same visual fidelity and detail. Director Naoki Hamaguchi previously revealed that the Switch 2 version features lighting similar to the PS5 version, focusing on using lighting to make the game feel more expressive. The Switch 2 version of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake launched on January 22.

The video also notably runs at 30 FPS for the showcase, which doesn't fully reveal the difference between the Switch 2's 30 FPS and other platforms' 60 FPS performance.
