Splitgate 2 Developer 1047 posts the staff after controversy, poor launch

Splitgate 2 Developer 1047 Games has revealed that it has made a series of cuts. This comes just two weeks after the launch of Splitgate 2, and suggests that the game does not perform as well as is projected.

On top of this, 1047 co -founder Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian say that they will not take a salary, as the development after Splitgate 2 continues. The studio says it is still “committed to building” the game in the future, despite dismissals.

“Today we divorced with a small group valued 1047 game members,” reads a statement that sits on the company's Linkedin page. “We are sorry to see our teammates go, and we are actively working to help them secure new opportunities. Furthermore, our co -founders Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian have chosen not to take wages when we lock in to deliver the next phase of the project.”

1047 is vague about why this was done and says that the studio is “redirecting resources” so it can improve Splitgate 2. There is nothing mentioned about the bad launch of the game, but we already know that it is struggling to pick up players on Steam.

It is not even mentioning the controversy. While marketing the game at Summer Games party, 1047 CEO Ian Proulx made a Jab against Call of Duty and wore a hat reading, “Make fps Great Again”. This either set expectations very high for Splitgate 2, or opened Proulx itself for criticism, because many felt that the game on the Maga hat was in bad taste. Proulx has apologized for this and said that the hat was supposed to get attention, not be noticed as a political statement.

Then it was the debacle with $ 80 cosmetic packages. The prize has since halved, but it really burned away some goodwill among the game base, and at a time when Splitgate 2 already had mixed reviews on Steam.

We have to see what is next for Splitgate 2 and where 1047 it takes after launch. In the meantime, we can only hope that those who were laid off can land on their feet elsewhere.
