Spice Girls’ ‘highly embarrassing’ group texts leak

Unedifying details of a private chat between three Spice Girls caused some blushes – and fury – when they emerged in court documents this week.

In it, a brutally frank Mel B tells bandmates Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton that “charity doesn’t pay the bills” when it appears they’re talking about a reunion concert.

The Sun understands that the leak of those messages, which were part of a defamation lawsuit filed in the US on Wednesday, has infuriated 90s pop icons.

And there will probably be a little more anger and red faces from a lot of bullshit exchanges that happened years ago, before Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby and Ginger became best friends again.

We’re told there’s a series of spiteful emails which include Posh being insulted for the way she behaved at the film premiere. Live forever! West End musical on 11 December 2012.

Spice Girls' secret performance revealed

She had arrived late at night having been stuck in traffic, and then chose to sit separately from the group during the show.

Sources say it didn’t go down well with Mel B, 49, in particular, and came just months after the girls reunited as a fivesome for the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.

And we’re told they’ve also secretly called in lawyers for a potential tour that doesn’t include Victoria Beckham, in case she tries to stop them.

At one point a few years later, rifts between the other three and Victoria and Mel C, both 50, appeared to have hit rock bottom – as they planned a comeback without them.

A source told the Sun that one girl even complained about one of her bandmates’ financial problems to a confidant.

This all comes after Mel B’s group chat with Geri, 51, and Emma, 48, emerged.

Ironically, Geri told Mel after his “charity doesn’t pay” comment that she hopes “no one ever hacks your messages” – to which Mel said: “Why? My messages are fine,” before adding: “Like I said, charity doesn’t pay the bills, no, it does.”

Our source said: “This is very embarrassing for the girls because it doesn’t exactly jibe with their core messages.

“But obviously it’s been quite a few years now and they’ve all kissed and made up since then.

“Look how happy they were together celebrating Victoria’s 50th birthday in April, singing their biggest hits together over a few drinks.

“The hatchet is well buried.”
