Sony reportedly has Gran Turismo 7 running on Switch 2
A recent report from insider Jeff Grubb suggests that Sony has received Gran Turismo 7 runs on the Switch 2. Grubb mentioned that Sony has the racing game working on the Switch 2 during a discussion about the developer bringing more of its games to PC, in response to a fan question. Grubb was quick to rule out the possibility of an official release during the call, hinting that he personally believes Sony has no intention of bringing Gran Turismo 7 to the Nintendo platform. However, fans have speculated that Sony's Switch 2 version of the Gran Turismo 7 may have another purpose within the company.

Many fans in discussions of the Jeff Grubb clip have suggested that Sony may be preparing for its rumored next console. Early leaks have suggested that the PlayStation developer may have some bold plans for its next-gen console, considering a portable version of the PlayStation 6. The portable version of the console is rumored to be similar to Nintendo's plans for the Switch and Switch 2, with gamers able to place the console in a dock to play on a TV with enhanced performance.
Gran Turismo 7 has been a huge success for Sony since its original debut in 2022, with the game continuing to maintain its popularity. A new report from Sony revealed that Gran Turismo 7 is still gaining new players in significant numbers, even nearly four years after launch. Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that the racing game still boasts more than 2 million active players as of December 2025, saying that Gran Turismo 7 has seen some of the best overall performances in franchise history. Gran Turismo 7 will celebrate its fourth anniversary in March, where the game continues to receive content updates, adding new cars, tracks and more.
While Sony has largely stuck to its guns when it comes to console exclusivity, the developer has slowly started porting over some of its most popular games. Sony brought both Marvel's Spider-Man and its Miles Morales spin-off to PC in 2022, while Spider-Man 2 received a PC version just over two years after its launch in January 2025. Several other Sony franchises have similarly made their way to PC after a period of PS5 exclusivity, including The last of us, The God of Warand Stellar Blade. While Gran Turismo 7 might not be the next Sony game to go cross-platform, its Switch 2 testing could portend big things for the developer's future.
