At this point, it has become clear that Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is more than just a Sonic the Hedgehog game. In many ways it is Fortnite of Sonic titles, with characters from all of Sega's portfolio, plus others like Spongebob Squarepants.
As if there were not already enough “guest” characters, a fan decided that Shrek would also be in the game. Over at Nexus Mods, creator Hallow has managed to add Shrek as an overlay for Dr. Eggman.
It is as crazy as you can expect, and yet Shrek does not know in its place in Sonic's world. Seriously. We could completely see Shrek chewing shade to be too moody or hang out with big the cat.
Who knows, maybe shrek will eventually be added to the game
Of the non-sonic related characters available at launch, there are Hatsune Miku, Ichiban from Yakuza as a Dragon series, joker from Persona 5, Steve, Creeper and Alex from Minecraft-Remembrance, plus Spongebob and Patrick.
Again, that's exactly what's available right now. There is support after launch planned for Crossworlds, who will see Mega Man, Pac-Man, Avatar The Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with more Spongebob and Minecraft representatives added to the game. Oh, and a character from nights.
As a massive mega man -Fan, it melts me to see my beloved blue bombing in anything but his own solo video game.
In other words, if you thought there were already lots of crossover characters, you haven't seen anything yet. And if the game continues to get support, never say never when it comes to potentially seeing Shrek competing with Hatsune Miku and Knuckles. It's just too easy to collaborate.
One thing is clear: we really live in the best timeline.
