Some unlucky PS Plus subscribers will get fewer free games this December

The latest batch for free PlayStation Plus Games are available to download now for December 2025, but some subscribers have been disappointed as select regions only get three titles this month instead of the five that many other locations are given. All three tiers of PlayStation Plus get new games added to their libraries each month, and while it usually only includes three titles, this month Sony is treating users to two extra free games. Unfortunately, there seem to be some players who don't get the same treatment.

On the first Tuesday of every month, PlayStation releases a new set of games for PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium subscribers. Some months are certainly better than others, but December was definitely one to talk about as PlayStation decided to surprise users with five games instead of three. From now until January 6th, subscribers can add LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon white to their libraries. Once redeemed, they will be available in a player's library for as long as they subscribe to PlayStation Plus. But those who don't add the games to their library before the next batch rolls around will miss out on this month's games.

Some PlayStation Plus subscribers are missing free games for December 2025

While many PlayStation Plus subscribers are now jumping into the likes of Killing Floor 3 and The Outlast Trials at no extra cost, some users have been disappointed because they don't have the same range of games. To be specific, it appears that subscribers based in Japan only have access LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon whiteand Synduality Echo of Ada. Unfortunately, Sony has not given a specific reason for the discrepancy, but it is likely due to the country's laws and regulations. Like both The Outlast Trials and Killing Floor 3 are particularly gory titles, their exclusion from Japan's PlayStation Plus lineup may be related to some sort of censorship regulation. A Reddit user also noted how other regions are experiencing similar issues, such as The Outlast Trials is banned in Saudi Arabia and Synduality Echo of Ada is not available in the Netherlands and Belgium due to online gambling regulations.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time such an event has occurred. However, PlayStation has been known to replace games in the past when certain titles are unavailable in specific regions. In January, PS Plus subscribers in Hong Kong discovered they had different games from the rest of the world. While most regions got Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remasteredand The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, subscribers in Hong Kong had DEEEER Simulator: Your average every day deer gameinstead of The Stanley Parable. Unfortunately, it looks like users in Japan haven't exchanged games this month and are simply forced to miss out on the two extra games for December.

The good news, however, is that anyone who subscribes to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium has another new game to look forward to on December 8, which Skating history will be added to the service's game catalog on day one. The third-person skateboarding game, developed by Sam Eng and published by Devolver Digital, will see players ollie, kickflip and grind their way through the underworld as a demon given a skateboard by the devil himself. If the player can skate to the moon, the devil will release the demon from their lifetime of suffering.

ps plus extra last of us part 2 remastered

It's always great when a new game hits PS Plus on day one, but it's not all good news this month, as even more games will be removed from the service in the coming days. On December 16, PS Plus will lose a total of twelve games, including some heavy hitters such as Battlefield 2042, Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Editionand Sonic Frontiers. PS VR owners will also be disappointed to learn that 3 more VR games are being removed from PS Plus, becoming a worrying trend as the service continues to remove VR titles without adding the same quantity next month.
