Silksong has a game-breaking softlock that most players will never see

A skilled Hollow Knight: Silksong player has figured out an incredibly specific sequence break in the iconic prison ward that can actually result in the game completely softlocking.

Team Cherry had a full seven years to work on Hollow Knight: Silksong, which really shows in the final game. There are tons of interactions and secret moments packed into the game that make it clear that Team Cherry were aware of how players would mess around in Pharloom.

That said, the Hollow Knight community is incredibly creative and has already figured out a number of bizarre strategies to break sequences and reach areas they weren't meant to. While most of these are harmless or just skip painful boss fights, there's one that no player wants to attempt, if they could even figure it out in the first place.

Silksong has a sequence break that can completely ruin your save

The Hornet has been imprisoned for good

Most of you are probably aware of one of Silksong's coolest optional moments, where the Hornet can be captured and put in The Slab's prison. It results in a jailbreak sequence where Hornet retrieves his belongings, snaps a neck or two, and then escapes on the Bell Beast to get back to his mission.

As pointed out by WikiWitIT and originally discovered by YouTuber Kilroy Was Here, there is a very specific way to completely break that sequence of events and essentially destroy your save. To do so, you'll need to avoid the Bell Beast altogether and unlock the Cling Grip, which means taking a very strange route through the Wormways after grinding for the Simple Key.

Getting through the Wormways requires a unique strategy of using your death cocoons and staying in the air by healing to reach the platforms, which will eventually take you to Shellwood. Then, taunting enemies to get them close enough for a pogo allows you to reach the Cling Grip without running and free the Bell Beast.

Still with me? From there you just need to get trapped in the Deep Docks, which will take you to the prison sequence. Things get pretty normal here, but if you make it to where the Bell Beast is going to pick you up, the Hornet will end up completely stranded and unable to escape because you never freed it in the first place.

It's an incredibly specific sequence break that almost all players will avoid, but it's interesting to see that Team Cherry didn't make a workaround and clearly never expected players to reach The Slab without the Bell Beast. Of course, seeing it yourself will ruin your save, but it's still interesting.
