This article contains MAJOR spoilers for Dispatch.
Now that all episodes of Dispatch has been released, it's clear that AdHoc Studio has a very special IP on its hands. Not only have Dispatch able to recapture the fantastic writing and choice-based gameplay of classic Telltale games such as The wolf among usbut it also introduces a new world full of beloved characters just begging for more stories to be told about them. While one Dispatch Season 2 hasn't been confirmed yet, there are many directions it could take to build on episode 8's finale.
Despite Dispatch with multiple endings players can achieve depending on their choices, each ending remains open-ended enough that a second season would have plenty to work with. Developer AdHoc has responded to calls for one Dispatch Season 2, says it's a possibility, and actor Aaron Paul, voice of Robert Robertson, has said he wants to do more with the character. Until a second season is officially confirmed, fans can only speculate on what their dream scenario would be for a continuation of the Z-Team story.
Things that should be included in Dispatch Season 2
-
New sender
-
Mecha Man as a dispatchable hero
-
A cannon ending
-
New Z-Team members
A new sender
Although it would be controversial, Dispatch Season 2 could do wonders with a new shipper at the helm – specifically Mandy, without her Blonde Blazer powers. At the end of Dispatch Episode 8, Blonde Blazer gives up her amulet so Chase can be revived and use his super speed in a move the Shroud couldn't predict. Afterwards, Mandy and Robert speculate about what to do with the amulet, as it seems to be keeping Chase alive. Maybe a second Dispatch season could see Chase keep the amulet for now, leaving a powerless Mandy to fill in as a new dispatcher.
Mecha Man as a dispatchable hero
If Mandy moves into the role of dispatcher, there would be room for Robert to get out into the field himself. With the Mecha Man suit repaired – and presumably the real Astral Pulse recovered from the Shroud – Robert would have all the tools he needs to lead the Z-Team from the front lines instead of behind the desk. It would be interesting to see how Mecha Man's powers work in conjunction Dispatchs management simulation game, and a second season could give fans the chance to experience that game.
A cannon ending
For a second season of Dispatch to work, AdHoc will likely need to commit to a canon ending for the first season. Whether players choose to end up with Blonde Blazer or Invisigal, and whether Invisigal remains a hero or embraces villainy, would need to be nailed down. Ideally, the ending where Invisigal becomes a villain after killing the Shroud would lend itself to a second season best. The story of Dispatch Season 2 could involve trying to track down the remnants of the Red Ring and Invisigal in an attempt to redeem her and bring her back to the Z-Team.
New Z-Team members
A new season of Dispatch wouldn't be complete without a new set of faces on the Z-Team for players to get to know. As SDN seeks to rehabilitate more villains through the Phoenix Program, some former enemies from the first season would be ideal candidates to join the team. Lightningstruck would be an obvious addition after being caught in Dispatch Episode 3, and Thumbstick would be another fun new teammate, especially if Robert helps him with his little problem during the events of Episode 8. While the original Z-Team members should stick around for a second season, an expanded roster to include new former villains would go a long way toward building on the ideals of the first season.
