Half a dozen screenshots from rare Permanent has appeared online. The pictures offer the clearest look still on the game's interface and presentation in the engine, which gives some context on what Permanent May have looked for its cancellation.

Was announced at the end of 2019, Permanent Went through years of development hell and at least one creative restart during the years that followed. Microsoft reportedly drew the plug on the project in July 2025, as part of a broader restructuring which also resulted in the shelves on Perfect dark Reboot, another Xbox Game Studios title that suffered long -term development challenges.

Leaked screenshots reveal scrapped Everwild UI tabs and systems

Several months later PermanentCancellation, some new screenshots from the game have now appeared online, after being discovered by MP1st. The pictures, who are said to come from an artist who worked with the project, show several of the game's menus, including an inventory UI with six tabs: plants, seeds, mosaics, tools, figures and favorites. The screenshots offer the first concrete glimpse on systems that had never been shown before, as the whole of rarely shared Permanent Arrived in the form of concept art and movie trailers.

The figures shown in the leaked screenshots appear to be small, creature-like units with onion-shaped heads that comprise about half of their height-design which means a declining scale. A pop-up voter notices one as an “light figure”, which indicates an elementary classification. While the figures may have served as collectibles, their stackable nature in the leaked user interface indicates that they were more likely intended as craft resources. The screenshots also show layer tabs dedicated to seeds and plants, which indicates a collection and growing loop. About previous reports claiming Permanent Was predicted as a multiplayer experience is correct, some or all of these resources may have been intended to be trading between players the game had ever been completed.

The leaked screenshots probably show a pre-alpha version of Permanent. If the project was already in an alpha or later developmental stage, it may have survived Microsoft's latest restructuring effort, resulting in several corporate veterans leaving rare. But the exact age for these newly hired materials is unclear, leaving the possibility that they originate from a building before the game's 2021 start.

This leak will not turn PermanentFate, but it reveals some of the ideas that Rare had explored since the project entered the pre-production around 2014. Some of the patterns and systems created for the bad game could still be reused for the British developer's future titles-regular practice in the gaming industry. With rare recently celebrates its 40th anniversary shortly after navigation of redundancies, the attention is now drawn to what is coming thereafter, and if the company will have something non-kicke-Thieves Sea-Alied to show at any time soon.
