The Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie is exceptional, but it's not the best anime-related project overall. In fact, a better movie will be released in 2026. According to reports, Gintama: Yoshiwara In Flames is being remade, and it will be released with new animation. The movie will be released on February 13, 2026. Fans who haven't seen Gintama should start watching immediately if they want to see the movie when it premieres.
Longtime Gintama fans were very excited about the news, knowing that the Yoshiwara in Flames arc is arguably one of the best arcs in the entire series. It has the perfect blend of action, humor and drama. Also, it has a proper conclusion. On the other hand, Infinity Castle was only the first part and had many loose ends. Of course, it would be unfair to put the blame on the film, but you can't ignore it either.
The regular version of the Yoshiwara in Flames arc is great, so the remake can only get better. Unfortunately, while Gintama's film will be better in terms of quality, it will not perform at the same level at the box office. But the lack of high numbers is not a definitive indicator of a series' quality. A good example is the Chainsaw Man Reze Arc. MAPPA had produced the film and it had high quality animation. Also, the story was excellent.
Despite Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc being more complete than the Infinity Castle movie, it fell short in terms of revenue. It made less than $60 million, which, compared to Infinity Castle, doesn't seem like a huge number. Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames will have the same problem. It's worth repeating that revenue isn't an indicator of quality, so fans shouldn't be quick to dismiss it.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie 2 is released
The next Infinity Castle movie will be released in 2027
Since the first film has already been released, Demon Slayer fans will have a long wait for the next project. According to reports, the first film was in production for more than two years. It was also confirmed that ufotable was working on the film and the TV series at the same time. Given all the details, the follow-up film won't be released for at least two more years. So, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie 2 will probably premiere in 2027. Until then, fans have to wait patiently and either watch the old content again or switch to another anime series.
