Sakamoto Days Anime is good, but manganese is much better

When Sakamoto days Was first picked up for adaptation, there was almost a habit because the significant number of fans of this impressive action that many hardly contained its excitement to see their favorite history animated. But when Anime began to be broadcast in 2025, there was a little disappointment.

To be fair, Sakamoto days Anime is a fantastic show with good action, a fun main character and side characters, some good laughs and an overall entertaining vibe. But Yuto Suzuki's manga is largely regarded as the best action manner from Shonen Jump right now, so expectations of the show were much higher. That said, why is manganese so revered, and in what ways is it better?

Art

Suzuki's art is one of the best around

Sakamoto days is a show about a former hitman who gave everything up to raise a family with his beautiful wife and how his past began to come back to haunt his new reality. It is hardly a new time or a perspective that is not already covered in various other media and even anime as Rurouni Kenshin Have this.

But what separates manganese was the fantastic art that was one of the biggest reasons why it became as popular as it did. The art of anime is a decent one, but it is not the absolute beauty that manganese is. Artstyle for anime seems to benefit softer lines and a more stupid approach. Although they do not in any way destroy it, it has been talked about being inferior in that department to manganese.

Tonal texture

The manga alternates tasteful between tones seamlessly

Sakamoto days Is a really funny story and some of the characters are extremely absurd. But when the action begins, it is almost impossible to remember that there was a gag just a few pages ago. A character that has cooked that has a couple of idiosyncraries but who can also enter action mode when required really speaks with this ability to change tone in the story.

For this, Suzuki's art even answers and becomes harder and cruel to more action scenes as he takes on a much more easily accessible nature when he handles more comedic or record moments. Anime does not have this because Artstyle retains its appearance and feeling no matter what happens in the story.

Comedy and life span

Manganese stayed a little longer

Sakamoto days have something of Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Because it started out as a gagmana that became more and more serious the longer it went. This meant that there were several early chapters that had a little more fun with the history and the characters and were crucial to establishing some things with the audience like the notorious “Sakamoto Family Rules” and these were quite delightful for the reader base at that time.

Anime does not do a bad job balancing and comedy, but because of its stimulation it may not really settle in the softer moments that give Sakamoto days So much character. Anime quickly moves to the action scenes to catch attention and this meant that much of the more disc life moments were dumped in a section which makes it feel less like fun and more like filler.

Character depth

Mangaen could spend more time wiping out characters

Readers meet Taro Sakamoto as a 27-year-old who has already lived a very eventful life. Other characters such as Shin and LU also have back stories that really annoy them as characters. Because of how the manga conveyed these plot points, the readers made them feel closer to these characters and make them even feel more real and related.

Anime shows some of these flashbacks and explains why the characters are how they are, but without the same care and therefore it almost feels like a necessary inconvenience so that they can come back to the fun action things.

Intensity

When Sakamoto Days wanted to be serious, it went hard

This is a difference that is closely related to the art, but many iconic moments in manganese who have been stored did not have the same visual impact when they joined anime. The manga used these intense images and moments to pull the fans to the conflict that takes place in front of them and reminds them that however Sakamoto days Is a fun story with moments of Levity, it is still basically a dangerous world with nasty individuals.

Iconic moments like the panel with boiled and taro sitting on a paris wheel with the former all kinds and bloody. Anime was not bad when it represented this moment, but it felt like it dropped an edge in the translation. The same can be said for the moment Heisuke aims at a snicker rifle between Taro and Shin.

Fight choreography

Part of the direction left something to be desired

Sakamoto days Is not a world -class story in any way, but it does more than compensate with some of the best martial sequences and the flow that is in the mango industry right now. How Fights flow seamlessly over the page and Suzuki's odd, but refreshing choice of angles, makes Sakamoto's goals absolute cinema.

Anime went for a more typical style, which means that many of these fights are fantastic but not unique. The male's floating not translated so well into the adaptation and this is a bit of a shame. Many have been less than satisfied with the direction for anime, but there is hope that with a second course on the road can do a much better job.
