Grand Theft Auto 6 suffered its second delay yesterday, and developer Rockstar has updated the game's official site accordingly. The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has continued to build hype over the years, making the upcoming installment a historic launch for the industry.
Before being pushed back, GTA 6 was expected to arrive on May 26, 2026. After the second trailer was revealed earlier this year, many fans were beaming with excitement. The second trailer offered a deeper look into the criminal lives of protagonists Jason and Lucia, but players will have to wait a few months longer to find out more about this Bonnie and Clyde-inspired duo. Now, GTA 6 is slated for fall, and while the updated website doesn't reveal any mind-blowing news bombs, it does confirm some interesting details about the game.
Rockstar updates GTA 6 websites, confirms new release date and console exclusive launch
- GTA 6s new release date is November 19, 2026.
-
The game will still only be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch.
The new version of GTA 6s website makes it clear once again that PC gamers will unfortunately have the longest wait ahead of them. While PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users have known GTA 6 will be available immediately, PC fans have no clear timeline for a port. While GTA 5 originally released in September 2013, the PC version didn't arrive until April 2015. If Rockstar is planning a similar timeline, then PC users who have been eagerly waiting for GTA 6 may have a grueling wait on the horizon, as it could be 2027 or 2028 before the game is ported.
While Rockstar has adapted GTA 6s website to reflect the new launch date, the rest of the website will remain the same. Fans can flip through the pages to find out more information about Vice City, Jason and Lucia's lives, confirmed map locations, and the many supporting characters that help create the story.
News of the game's delay comes just a week after Rockstar fired several GTA 6 developer. Allegations of union-busting and protests by employees affected by the fires have put the company in hot water, but according to insider Jason Schreier, this delay has nothing to do with the recent fires. It is unfortunate that the wait for GTA 6 has grown even further, but that hopefully means the game will be even stronger at launch.
