ROBLOX adds new "age estimate" -security system online

Roblox has announced plans to implement “age estimation” security measures, which requires users to scan their IDs and upload selfies for age verification. This seems to be another attempt by Roblox To address counter -reaction to alleged legal loopholes believed to put minors at risk.

The state of Louisiana has already brought a case against Roblox Over problems with children abuse, and the company has been faced with several allegations of negligent security in recent weeks. In response to the mood and these accusations, Roblox Corporation has updated several policies and promised to improve their security initiatives. One of the latest changes in this regard seems to be the company's new age estimation policy.

ROBLOX will use selfies and IDs to estimate users' age

In an official blog post, Roblox revealed that the company will soon implement a new age calculation policy and urges users to scan their IDs and upload a selfie for verification. Roblox Previously updated its limited content policy, which makes some experiences not available to users under 18 years. The new age estimate system is apparently designed to supplement these rules, which ensures that minors cannot access inappropriate games and are protected from potentially harmful behavior. The company will expand this “ambitious plan” to all users at the end of 2025, although the exact date of its global roll -out has not been announced.

The new system will also contain a parents' consent, although the details have not been fully clarified. It seems that the platform will require minor users to provide verifiable parental consent to access certain limited functions. Roblox already offers several options for parental control, but many parents say these functions do not protect their children enough, as they are easy to circumvent. It is worth noting that the platform reportedly has over 380 million active monthly users, with about 40%, or about 152 million, as minors (via KRAV).
