Riftbound is in a strange place. The trading card game's debut set, Origins, has just launched internationally, and players are scrambling to get their hands on the product while they wait for the inevitable reprints.
Meanwhile, in China, Origins has been around since August, and the region is gearing up for the December release of Riftbound's second set, Spiritforged.
This has created a situation where international players are only grabbing the cards from Origins, while being inundated with Spiritforged leaks from China; I relate to my product-saturated Magic: The Gathering peers in times like this.
Unrevealed Champion Legends has been leaked
The full lineup of Spiritforged champion legends has been leaked, as posted on Reddit by L9-Gangplank. The following champions are seen in the screenshot: Rumble, Sivir, Renata Glasc, Ezreal, Azir, Irelia, Fiora, Jax, Ornn, Rek'Sai, Draven, and Lucian.
Many of these have been officially revealed by Riot, although few have had their entire card revealed.
Additionally, the respective card texts of Rumble, Fiora, and Ezreal were also leaked. Rumble (Red/Blue) seems to give Shield (+1 can when defending) to all mechanics. It's a relatively simple card, with its effectiveness entirely dependent on mechanics added alongside Rumble in Spiritforged.
Ezreal (Blue/Purple) reads: “Pull on me, Reaction: Draw a card. You can only use this ability if, during this turn, two of your opponent's units or equipment were selected as the target of your spells or unit abilities.” Players suspect that the Ezreal decks will center around the new “Repeat” keyword added to Spiritforged. As the name suggests, repeat lets you play a card again if you pay the extra cost.
Fiora (Orange/Yellow) reads, “When a unit becomes Mighty (measured at 5+), you may choose to exhaust me to channel a rune exhausted.” Fiora has a more complex ability, and we'll wait to see what gear is added to Spiritforged to gauge how powerful this champion legend will be.
Many are simply hoping that enough cards are added to Spiritforged to topple the ongoing dominance of Kai'Sa and Master Yi, with the former winning basically every notable Chinese tournament.
Spiritforged will be released in China on December 12th and internationally in February.
