Revised Playstation 5 Slim Model has seemingly cheaper materials

Just a few weeks after it leaked that Playstation 5 Slim, the smaller form factor version of Sony's flagship console, would get a new model that would cut the SSD size from 1 TB to 825 GB without a meaningful price cut to compensate, we now have our first real appearance on the inside of the new PS5.

As first discovered by video game Chronicle, via a new video from Youtuber Austin Evans, the revised Playstation 5 SLIm, which is currently exclusive to the European market, dampens the glossy finish which was a brand of the console in favor of a cheaper, Matt Finish.

While the console is lighter, it has a redesigned heat sink and the fan inside is no longer protected by metal. Thermal tests run by Evans are almost the same, although it can be changed with more long -term use.

It is not in any way a type of situation, although it is smaller, but given that SSD is smaller and the materials are undeniably cheaper, it is worthwhile to just wondering the global marketing conditions console was not cheaper, as previous consoles have been, including Playstation's own “PS3 Super Slim.”

More hardware changes may be in work on Playstation

Interestingly, while Evans could get hold of the previously leaked new PS5 Slim, it is not the only rumored audit that could come to the Playstation 5 hardware line.

Last week, Thegamer reported how a new PS5 Pro was rumored to be in the works, although it was unclear what changes, if any, were made. There are reportedly “improvements”, but SSD will, according to reports, remain the same, as well as its price point. Based on the above video, there is a chance that these “improvements” will come through cheaper materials.

After that report, it is also rumored that Dualsense will have its own audit, one that will see the control unit equipped with a removable battery that apparently could charge separately or serve as a replacement for prolonged battery remuneration.

With just over 90 days until the end of 2025, it seems that we are not yet ready with Playstation audits.
