Resident Evil Requiem fans will want to get ready for July, as matching Amiibo for the game will launch then. While Resident Evil Requiem coming out on Switch 2 at the same time as other consoles, players on the Nintendo console will have to wait significantly longer to fully unlock everything the game has to offer on that system.
Resident Evil Requiem introduces new protagonist Grace and sees the return of series favorite Leon S. Kennedy as the two search for answers in the remains of Raccoon City. As with the last ones Resident Evil game, players will be able to unlock a variety of cosmetics, skins, and bonuses through their playthrough, but at least two unlockables on the Switch 2 won't be available anytime soon.
PSA: Resident Evil Requiem leaks and spoilers are all over the Internet
Unfortunately for fans looking forward to Capcom's highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem, spoilers for the game are flooding the internet.
The Resident Evil Requiem Amiibo will be a long wait
Resident Evil Requiem's Amiibo now has a release date of July 30, 2026. Fans will be able to pick up Leon and Grace separately, as a duo pack has not been announced. While prices in the West haven't been revealed yet, Capcom's Japan store currently lists both Amiibo at ¥3,080, which equates to $19.75 at the time of publication. While it's possible that the price could change for the US market, most standard Amiibo tend to be pretty affordable, so players shouldn't have to cough up too much money on them.

Unfortunately, this means that a couple of weapon skins on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the Resident Evil Requiem will remain locked to players for months after the game's launch. So far, only one of the skins has been revealed, namely the weapon skin for Leon. Called Neon, the skin lives up to the name, with a blue, green, pink and red color scheme that's likely to stand out in the dark and gritty environments of Resident Evil Requiem. However, despite the game launching for the Nintendo Switch 2, the skin players will eventually be able to unlock with Grace's Amiibo has not been revealed. It's likely that it unlocks a corresponding neon skin for one of her weapons, but that's unconfirmed.
Thankfully, there are still tons of skins, filters, and more available in Resident Evil Requiem which does not require an Amiibo to unlock. The deluxe edition of Resident Evil Requiem includes five additional costumes for the two playable characters, with Leon taking on Film Noir, Apocalypse and Resident Evil 4 costumes, while Grace also gets a Film Noir outfit, and one that is based on Resident Evil VillageLady Dimitrescu. Four weapon skins, two screen filters, two charms, a sound pack and data files are also included in the deluxe edition. Those who don't buy the deluxe edition won't miss out entirely, as there are a few costumes, charms and perhaps most importantly, infinite ammo and infinite color ribbons that can be unlocked by playing through the game, completing selected challenges and using challenge points.
While the Amiibo are meant to have in-game functionality, many fans of the survival horror series will likely pick up the figures to collect and display, with their impact on gameplay a lower priority. Some players probably won't mind not being able to use the neon armor shell at launch, or don't plan on buying the Amiibo at all. However, having to wait five months after launch may frustrate some fans who like to unlock everything in a game to 100%.
While the Amiibo news is potentially disappointing, it seems the game itself is a hit. Early reviews of Resident Evil Requiem have been extremely positive. While Resident Evil 6 once sloppy in its attempt to appeal to more traditional survival horror fans as well as those who enjoyed the plot of Resident Evil 5it seems like Resident Evil Requiem has taken the idea of multiple play styles and made it work. Capcom and Nintendo have also both received praise due to the game performing well on the console.
