Rainbow Six Siege Reveals Year 11 Roadmap

Ubisoft is preparing to launch the latest season for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege called Operation Silent Hunt and after the latest tips and teases to the community, the iconic Solid Snake officially joins the roster. 2025 saw the next development of Rainbow Six Siege as Ubisoft rolled out its biggest update to popular online shooter Siege X, breathing new life into the 10-year-old title and helping its player population soar.

But despite the game's continued rise, the end of 2025 and into early 2026 has been tumultuous at best. Before the new year, Rainbow Six Siege suffered a massive hacking incident that forced Ubisoft to temporarily shut down the game's servers. Hackers flooded the in-game messaging system, doled out billions in R6 credits, developer-only skins suddenly becoming available, and other odd behaviors. Even worse, the game suffered another hacking incident just a week later, with some players also getting banned. Thankfully, Ubisoft was able to fix the situation and has since managed to get the game back on track with teases for what's next.

“It would be a shame if these characters just stayed in the siege for the whole time this time” Rainbow Six Siege X directors comment on possible return to single player

While reflecting on the 10th anniversary of Rainbow Six Siege, Game Rant discusses a possible return to single player with Ubisoft's developers.

In late January, Ubisoft teased the appearance of Solid Snake Rainbow Six Siegehowever, at the time, details were very scarce and planned to reveal more information on February 15. As promised, Ubisoft revealed Operation Silent Hunt, which launches on March 3 and features tons of Metal Gear Solid references and content for players to enjoy.

First of all, Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid series arrives as an attacking operative, once again voiced by the original voice actor, David Hayter. Snake comes armed with his Soliton Radar MKIII gadget and his on-the-spot purchasing ability. His gadget is a handheld device that allows Snake to see the floor plan of his immediate surroundings and any enemies on his current floor. The unit also has three lights that indicate certain threats in the area, with green meaning all is clear, yellow marking standard cameras being used by an enemy, while red means there are one or more enemies active in the area. Using precision mode on the device, the radar displays a position icon and vision cone for all enemies picked up, but remember this has limited charges and a cooldown timer, so use it wisely.

For this unique ability, Snake's spot purchases allow him to pick up utility pouches from fallen enemies that replenish his secondary gear during the match. Where things get a little interesting is that Snake, unlike other operators, can have up to five different secondary gadgets at the same time. So by using his ability to scavenge, Snake can store items in all of his open gadget slots, allowing him to adapt to different situations.

New weapons are also on the way, including Snake's Tacit .45 secondary pistol. Alternatively, Solid Snake's primary weapon could be the PMR90A2-designed sniper rifle or the F2 rifle. Even better, F2 can now use grip accessories.

Ubisoft is also teasing a special Metal Gear theme mode, which is currently called [REDACTED] event. For many stealth fans, this mode could be a dream come true as it pairs Solid Snake with Ubisoft's own Sam Fisher from Splinter cell series, also known as Zero in Rainbow Six Siege. The mode features a modified version of the Nighthaven Labs map, which will feature plenty of Metal Gear references. As expected, the event will have its own Collection series, styling the Rainbow Six operators as iconic characters from the Metal Gear series such as Gray Fox and Meryl.

The Silent Hunt roadmap brings some additional details, including new Black Ice weapon skins, a 1v1 Arcade mode, as well as modernized versions of classic Siege maps such as Coastline, Oregon and Villa. Rainbow Six Siege6v6 Dual Front mode will also be phased out after Silent Hunt ends, and the Ubisoft team will also publish a major operator balancing update. Changes include Skopos switching to a 3-speed operator, Ela's Grzmot mines cause a longer concussion effect, Amarus Garra Hook gets 1 extra charge, Shield operators will no longer be able to punch through a full health barricade, and much more.
