Despite removing resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 from the PS Plus directory in April, Sony remains committed to expanding its portfolio of PS3 games for the service.
When he spoke to Game File, Playstation Vice President of Global Services Nick Maguire said that they “have not ruled [new games] Out “, and that” the opportunities are there “. But he expressed that” there are many PS3 games that are already flowing “, with most of the remarkable first parties available right now.
“We have 80 collections of games over the catalog,” he said. “So we want to keep it healthy and get new games. Sometimes it means taking out some games at the same time to keep the proposal interesting and help people also find new games.”

“Through streaming” will undoubtedly be a spotted statement to accept for players, as frustration continues to bubble over the lack of PS3 backward compatibility; A Reddit post from just five days ago attracted almost 5,000 Upvotes simply to ask, “WTF is Playstation waiting to bring PS3 games to PS5?”
Rumors are in abundance that Sony is developing an emulator behind the scenes, with PS Plus Classics developer implicit transformations even who say earlier this year that they “dream” about making a native emulator. But without any official word, Playstation's attitude to its PS3 directory continues to be a fight.
Many people point out that Microsoft has a built-in Xbox 360 emulation for Xbox One and Series X/S as a sign that Sony “does not care”, but the two systems could not be more different. PS3 was a notoriously difficult console to develop because because of its unique cell processor, which is why so many of its gates were much inferior than Xbox, such as Oblivion and Fallout: New Vegas. It is a harder console to develop for means that it is a tougher console to emulate, and even some of the most successful hobby attempts are not without their problems.
Take RPCS3, the most famous emulator, which has an extensive and impressive catalog with over 3,600 compatible PS3 games. Despite their success in making 69 percent of the console library that is playable on PC, there is still a lithany of performance problems and bugs that would be unforgivable in an official port. It is much cleaner to simply stream the games, although it requires a strong and stable internet connection.
Maybe one day we will see native PS3 emulation – maybe the next generation with the more powerful PS6 – but at the moment we are stuck with streaming. What games we can see next, it's another debate.
