This article was updated by Andrea Trama on March 29, 2026, citing a fan's Reddit post highlighting glass shattering and environmental destruction. It was first published on March 24.
A now changed LinkedIn profile for a former Rockstar Games developer working with Grand Theft Auto 6 reveals a procedural “breakable glass system” that will add another level of realism to the open-world crime game. It is worth noting that between Grand Theft Auto the series and Red Dead Redemption series, the latter focused more on realistic immersion, but the company's pedigree applies to both franchises. GTA 6 will be no exception in that regard.
Right now, fans are basically starving for any information about Grand Theft Auto 6. Trailer 2 was released in May 2025, meaning it's been almost a full year since fans got any concrete look at the game. For this, and many other reasons, fans believe there will be news about GTA 6 in April, but it also means that they are looking for new information on the Internet. Some even took a recent comment from Take-Two's CEO to confirm GTA 6price when it wasn't. That search also brought some fans to LinkedIn.
Rockstar teases GTA 6 launch expectations
Rockstar's expectations for the GTA 6 launch are about as high as they can be, according to the company's latest teaser.
From time to time, LinkedIn developers fail to share new details about a project (or the fact that a project exists). The same can be said here, but within hours of this breakable glass system being discovered, the developer updated his profile. In other words, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. The LinkedIn profile listed the developer as a graphics programmer who worked at Rockstar Games between February 2020 and April 2023, where they “led the next generation procedural glass system for vehicles and props.” Beyond that, they worked on some key elements of various rendering systems, but it's the glass system that has taken the internet by storm.
GTA 6's Procedural Glass System (Leak)
As a comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5s glass systems were impressive, but they all had refractive patterns. If players hit them, they break in predetermined ways and are not unique for each hit: there are the same cracks, the same chunk sizes, and the same burst effect. What this GTA 6 The feature means that the glass breaks procedurally, in real time, depending on how, where and with what players hit it with.
A Reddit post by a user named NoBed2493 goes into detail about the Bautista trailer for the game, showcasing what appears to be procedurally generated broken glass and environmental destruction. This would be in line with the broken glass leak.

Shooting, punching, and blasting will all result in different breaks, as will the type of glass broken, such as a car windshield, shop window, or side mirror. Presumably this also means that partial and persistent damage is possible (a half broken mirror) and that there are real physics interactions (how the shards of glass fall, bounce, slide or react to external forces). It's a small thing, but Rockstar Games has always been the king of small details, and this is the kind of feature that makes immersion stronger.
That attention to detail can also have a knock-on effect GTA 6s gameplay as well, if perhaps in subtle ways. It can affect how players approach stealth, car chases, or even moment-to-moment. It is a crime game after all. Smashing a shop window will feel different every time, and provided that GTA 6 have any kind of thief, this system will help the longevity of the game. Likewise, vehicle shootings can become more visually unpredictable, with windshields cracking and shattering in ways that reflect the true intensity of the encounter.
Of course, this is pure speculation until Rockstar confirms any such system, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Fans just have to wait for official GTA 6 news, but maybe they shouldn't hold their breath. If Rockstar knows anything, it's how to use impatience as marketing.
