Pokemon gave us a first look at its next games last week, and we've all had one thing on our minds since then – Pombo. Pombon is the Fire-type Pokemon that everyone fell in love with as soon as they laid eyes on it during that Winds & Waves trailer, and we already have proof that it's going to be the most popular Gen 10 starter by far.
Bulbapedia – like Wikipedia, but for Pokémon – shares the six and bottom six most visited pages on its site each month. It's a handy way to see a snapshot of which Pokemon are trending right now, and which ones we've forgotten about. Surprise, surprise, Pombon tops February's listalthough the adorable little Pomeranian Pokemon wasn't revealed until there was only a day and a half left in the month.
Pombon received a month's attention in a day and a half
That means people flocked to Bulbapedia on Friday afternoon and into Saturday in an effort to learn more about Pombo. So many of you that the new page had more visitors in the space of 36 hours than any of the other 1,027 pages handled in the entire month of February.
Yes, there are 1,028 Pokemon now, with more to come as we travel further into Winds & Waves.
It wasn't about Browt and Gecqua following close behind either. There isn't nearly as much interest in Winds & Waves' other two partner Pokemon as there is in Pombo. Browt, the green Angry Bird, just managed to make it into the top six, behind Pikachu, Eevee and Lucario, and poor old Gecqua is nowhere to be seen.
I choose Gecqua, someone has to
Well, that's not technically true. Bulbapedia expanded on the top six to let fans know exactly where Gecqua ranks, and it almost made it to the top ten. Perhaps an early indicator of which of Winds & Waves starter Pokemon will be the most and least popular. For what it's worth, I was always going to pick Gecqua, even before I found out it's the one that gets the least amount of love.
Also, go to Bulbapedia and read about Klang when you get a chance. Let's pump those numbers up.
We'll naturally see and hear more about Pombon, Browt, and Gecqua, along with the new region they call home and the other new Pokemon they share it with in the coming months, but that may be until the next update. To the dismay of many Pokemon fans, last weeks reveal was confirmed Winds & Waves will be released in 2027. That means Gen 10 won't be here for at least another year.
