As many fans may have predicted after the launch of wisdom in the sea and heavenly set, Pokemon TCG Is about to release a new expansion based on the legendary animals, entitled Secluded Springs. Most older games in the series are double loved by the fans because they have not only added a lot of new Pokemon, but they may also have started the entire journey for some players, which gave these games an extra layer of nostalgia. This is especially true for Gen 1, with Kanto Pokemon who gets a lot of love in modern games with new regional forms, developments and other variants. Gen 2 is not far behind in terms of nostalgic value for many players, so it may come as a surprise that Pokemon TCGThe S A4A set “respects” Pokemon Crystal more than it honors its memory.
Pokemon TCG Pocket's Legendary Beasts is a mixed bag
Pokemon TCGThe next set comes out in less than a week, August 28, and its big move is that it adds ex -cards for Suicune, Raikou and Entei. But as a mascot of Pokemon crystalSuicune ex should undoubtedly have received much more love than it did, and the same goes for the other two animals. All three ex variants of the legendary animals share the same ability in the form of legendary pulse, which means that players can draw a card at the end of their turn if one of these critters is in the active location.
But they all have different attacks with the same energy cost in Pokemon TCG. Raikou Ex has Voltaic Bullet, which handles 60 damage and also 10 damage to a bench Pokémon for two lightning levels. Entei ex deals 60 damage with its burning Beatdown attack, which can deal with up to 120 damage if Pokemon has two extra fire energy, which means four total. Finally, Suicune ex Crystal Walz has two water energy attacks, and it handles 20 damage for each bench Pokemon. Unfortunately, none of these are game change and with a retreat cost of 2 shared between these cards, they can be difficult to play in competitive tires.
It is worth noting that Suicune Ex's attack counts both the user's and the opponent's benched pokemon.

This attack can deal with up to 120 damage for only two energy, which is quite good, but the condition is that both the user and the opponent must have their bench full. This is quite unusual, as competitive matches require some moderation in filling the bench, as it can backfire based on the opponent's strategy or card in their tires, as Pokemon TCG'S Cyrus, Sabrina, Greninja, etc. In the same way, you play several Pokemon cards in a tires the odds to get Suicune ex and all other base cards at once, which means that you never really reach the ideal point where Crystal Walz handles the maximum amount of damage.
In addition, the opponent can also realize what happens when Pokemon TCGSuicune ex is played and decides to avoid placing Pokemon cards on the bench to make Suicunes attack agreement less damage than would otherwise do. There are even cases where Suicune ex's injury can handle 0 damage, or only 20 or 40, which for two energy is quite far from ideal. With only 140 hp, Suicune ex is quite squishy for a Pokemon Ex, and it can be difficult to justify reserving two seats in a tire for it.
Raikou ex is perhaps the most playable of gang thanks to the faster play style of lightning strikes, and if that ends, it can defeat Suicune Ex in two hits while the bench damages the bench. Cards such as Zeraora and Tapu Koko Ex may also disturb Suicune Ex, as well as the “new” Pikachu ex tires in Pokemon TCG. This spells bad news for Suicune ex, unfortunately given its weakness for lightning strikes.
Why it's not all the downfall and gloom for Pokemon TCGP's Suicune ex
There are still some savings to Suicune ex under the right conditions. Some tires like to play as many Pokémon as possible to build their board wide, with a fairly relevant example is the current Meta Sylveon Ex and Espeon Ex Deck in Pokemon TCGWho benefits from having as many Eevee and Eeveelutions on the bench as possible due to attacking with Espeon ex and drawing with Sylveon ex. Against this type of tire, Suicune ex and, to some extent, can, Raikou ex as well, do some real injuries – although the opponent can adapt his strategy accordingly.
Interestingly, the secluded Spring's set adds to a Mantyke card to the mix, which is another Pokemon TCG Baby Pokemon like those introduced with wisdom of sea and sky, and it ramps water energy for Pokemon on the bench. This can make Suicune ex ready to attack faster, or it can help with a security plan if Suicune ex is not good enough in a specific match. In the end, it remains to be seen if the legendary animals will see games in meta tires, but their attacks are not fantastic, and Suicune ex may be a disappointment in some games.
