New leaks from Pokémon GO gives fans a sneak peek at the featured Pokemon for February's Community Day, with classic Pokemon Vulpix in the spotlight. The hugely popular mobile game based on the monster-catching franchise has already given fans plenty to be excited about in the first few weeks of 2026, launching some big events. Pokémon GO has already hosted its first Community Day event of the year, with a Community Day Classic featuring Piplup, while Grookey will headline January's most important Community Day. Pokémon GO has also brought in lots of new Pokemon and variants for the new year.
Less than two weeks into the new year, Pokémon GO has already kicked off 2026 with a brand new Pokemon. Pokémon GO launched its Pinch Perfect event as the first full event of 2026, bringing the Gen 9 Pokemon Klawf to the game along with the debut of Shiny Dhelmise. Scopely has also already confirmed that another new Shiny form will make its first appearance in the game later in January, kicking off the Precious Pals event on January 20th with the introduction of Shiny Fidough. Now, Pokémon fans get a glimpse into one of February's biggest events.
Pokemon GO Reveals Electric-Type Global Challenge Event
Pokemon GO players looking to add some Electric-type animals to their collections will have a great opportunity to do so in mid-January.
A new leak shared by popular Pokémon GO dataminer Pokemod group teases February's Community Day event. According to the post, classic Gen 1 Fire Pokemon Vulpix will appear as the main spotlight Pokemon on February's Community Day, along with its Ice-type Alolan variant. Each Pokémon will boast special moves that are only available when a Vulpix evolves into Ninetales during the event, with Kanto Ninetales receiving Energy Ball Charged Attack and Alolan Ninetales knowing Chilling Water. The post does not reveal when Pokémon GOCommunity Day in February will be held, although recent regular Community Day events have largely been skewed towards the middle to end of the month.
Vulpix's appearance in February's Community Day will mark the first time the beloved Gen 1 Pokémon has been given its own Community Day. Much like other Community Days, the event is expected to offer longer durations for spawn-increasing items such as incense and lure modules. The inclusion of both Kanto and Alolan Vulpix will also be a huge boon to fans, with enhanced Pokémon GO Shiny prices for both versions of the classic creature. Vulpix was previously entered into an official vote to receive a Community Day in February 2020, although it would ultimately lose out to fellow Gen 1 Pokémon Rhyhorn.
Pokemon GO may have big plans for Pokemon's 30th anniversary
Pokémon GO looks to have a lot more on the table for fans in 2026, as the game will likely participate in the franchise's 30th anniversary. A major Pokémon GO the August 2025 leak hinted at a number of unreleased Pokémon referenced in the game's files, including Gen 9 legendaries such as Ogerpon, Pecharunt, and Terapagos, among others. Pokémon GO will likely start adding some of the Mega Pokemon found in Pokemon Legends: ZA in the near future as well, introducing more than 40 Mega Evolutions between the main game and DLC.
Pokémon GO fans should keep an eye on the game in the coming months as the franchise kicks off its celebration. The Pokemon Company is expected to finally be revealed Pokémons tenth generation as part of the anniversary, with Pokémon GO will likely get a tie-in event for the new games. The developer gave fans even more reason to be excited with its New Year's greeting, suggesting that 2026 will be Pokémons “best year yet” within the post. Pokémon is gearing up for a big celebration to ring in the game's 30th anniversary, and Pokémon GO players should be excited to see what lies ahead.
