Pokémon GO has announced the Carnival of Flamigo event, which will add Flamigo to the mobile augmented reality game. This event will continue the trend of adding more Gen 9 creatures Pokémon GOand fans don't have much longer to wait before they can pick up Flamigo for themselves.
Since its launch in July 2016, Pokémon GO has regularly added more Pokemon to his Pokedex. While the game doesn't feature every Pokémon in existence, it does have hundreds of creatures for players to catch. In fact, so many animals have been added that Scopely is running out of Pokemon for Pokémon GO. For example, some of the previous generations, including Gen 1 to 3, have no more available Pokemon to add. Fortunately, some of the newer regions, such as Galar and Paldea, still have a pool of pocket monsters to draw from.

New event for February 2026 adds Flamigo to Pokemon GO
With February on the horizon, Scopely has revealed the Carnival of Flamigo. This event will help kick off the month, starting Tuesday, February 3rd at 10 a.m. to Sunday 8 February 2026 at 20.00 local time. As the name suggests, it plays Flamigo, the Synchronize Pokémon. This will be the debut of the Gen 9 beast in the Pokémon GO and can be encountered in the wild when the event begins. Also, some other possible wild encounters during Flamigo Carnival are Lotad, Buneary, Pikipek and Spritzee.
In terms of event bonuses, players will have increased chances to encounter Shiny Lotad, Shiny Spritzee and Shiny Pikipek. There will also be several other bonuses to take advantage of during the Carnival of Flamigo, including 2× Incense and Daily Adventure Incense duration during the event, making it potentially easier to catch some Pokemon. Additionally, players will be awarded an additional 500 Stardust when they capture Flamigo.

While Pokémon GO players can catch Flamigo through wild encounters, the February event will feature other ways to catch Pokemon. New field research tasks are added for the Carnival of Flamigo that will reward encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Players can also complete gathering challenges themed around the event to try and get an encounter with Flamigo. These will also give out XP and Stardust.
In addition to these activities, free and paid time-based research will be available for a limited time during the Carnival of Flamigo. Some of the rewards for the free Timed Research include two Incenses, Stardust, and event-themed Pokémon encounters. Players can spend $4.99 to access the event-exclusive Paid Timed Research. The rewards for this include a Star Piece, an event-themed avatar, encounters with event-themed Pokémon, and more. It's worth noting that rewards earned from completing both versions of Time Research must be claimed before Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 20.00 local time.
This upcoming event suggests that Scopely plans to keep adding new Pokemon to mobile frequently. In fact, the developer is hosting another Pokémon GO event at the end of January which will add the Glimpse, another Gen 9 animal to the list. The event, known as Into the Depths, starts on January 27th at 10:00 AM and runs until February 1st at 8:00 PM local time.
It will be interesting to see what other Pokémon make their way into the game in the coming months. More Pokémon from the Paldea region could probably appear. However, the Gen 10 games are expected to be released in 2026. If so, the pool of available Pokemon could expand dramatically, giving fans more animals to collect in Pokémon GO in the coming years.
