Pokemon GO Replay Event Brings Back Gigantamax Starters

Niantic reveals the limited-time Replay: GO Bigger event Pokémon GO players in April, adding new rewards and event-specific bonuses while relaunching fan favorite Gigantamax Kanto. There are always new things to do Pokémon GOas Niantic is constantly adding new limited time events and other bonuses alongside the typical seasonal content. The latest reveal brings back some of the fan-favorite Kanto Pokémon through their G-Max forms later this month.

In fact, Pokémon GO is fresh off a couple of recent events, including a special Fashion Raid Day on April 4th. For April Fools Day, Niantic finally brought Mimikyu into the Pokémon GOa generation 7 creature that fans have been waiting a long time for. While some probably considered the tease an April Fool's joke, Niantic confirmed that it wasn't a joke as the Ghost type was added during the A Shockingly Good Time event. For those who managed to progress through the associated Event Pass, an encounter with Mimikyu was added at level 30 and 60 respectively. Later this month, fans will once again have a chance to go head to head against some Kanto Gigantamax Pokémon.

A recent Pokémon GO leak suggests that a new game-changing virtual item with features like auto-catching could be released soon.

In a new blog post, Niantic revealed the return of the “Giants of the Kanto Region” as part of the upcoming Replay: GO Bigger event that starts in just a few hours on April 25. Players will want to make sure they have plenty of Max Particles ready to go, because Pokémon GO Power Spots will feature Gigantamax forms of Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise and, the only non-starter of the bunch, Gengar. Additionally, there is a chance for players to discover their shiny variant forms as well.

During the Replay: GO Bigger event, Pokémon GO will also have some event bonuses active as well. Players will be able to hold more Max Particles, with the collection cap increasing to 1,600 during the event. Power Spots will be updated more frequently and players can earn 8x more Max Particles along with 3 special deals for the day. Finally, Niantic is raising the daily limit on ranged attacks from 10 to 20. There's also an event ticket for those looking to spend some real money, which offers new timed research rewards and bonuses.

There's more for fans to look forward to before the Replay: GO Bigger event. To celebrate Earth Day, Pokémon GO is holding its annual Sustainability Week event on April 14th and running through April 20th. The Galar Pokémon Silicobra, along with its evolved form Sandaconda, will be featured during the event, as the sand snake will appear more often in the wild. During the special event, players can also encounter rare spawns of the shiny variant Toedscool and Galarian Corsola with pink sunglasses.

Sustainability Week and the previously revealed Replay: GO Bigger event are part of Niantic's larger roadmap for April 2026, including the upcoming Community Day for Pokémon GO. This weekend, players can participate in the Tinkatink community day, where Pokemon will come with the featured Gigaton Hammer attack.
