Pokemon Gen 10 region map leaked online and there is WAY too much water

Earlier this year, a leak known as Teraleak 2 released several key details about Pokémon Gen 10 – and new leaks have shown off some features coming to the game. One of the latest is a first look at the beta map for Pokémon Gen 10, which is leaked to be named Pokemon Wind(s)/Pokemon Wave(s). It is currently unknown if the titles are pluralized or not.

As a note, since this is a beta depiction of the region, it may change significantly before release. Granted though Pokémon Gen 10 is inspired by Southeast Asia/Indonesia, the map's bones will likely be very similar to the official release.

Pokemon Gen 10 is inspired by Southeast Asia/Indonesia

As posted by CentroLeaks, the map is inspired to the point of being very similar. The leaker's followers have noted that many of the islands haven't changed much from their real-life inspos, though this is likely to change. Essentially the islands of Indonesia and the Malay Peninsula have been taken and rearranged, but otherwise look very familiar. Some notable landmarks include, but are not limited to,

  • Sumatra

  • Java

  • New Guinea

  • Kalimantan

  • Borneo

  • Sulawesi

  • Southern Thailand

  • Part of Australia

  • Many others

Other notable points on the map include the volcano at the heart of the region, the inclusion of desert regions and a snow mountain (all staples), and perhaps the inclusion of Sulawesi. For those not in the know, Sulawesi is known for its extreme endemism, as species have evolved in isolation and do not exist anywhere else on Earth. “Isolated Evolutions” has not been leaked for Pokémon Gen 10, but if it has its own regional developments, maybe that's the best inspiration. And to the meme's credit, there is a lot of water in this region, not unlike Hoenn or Alola. However, that is to be expected.

The inclusion of Borneo, like the raging water, feels like proof of my theory that Pokémon Gen 10 water starter is based on a proboscis monkey. Previous leaks, as well as other evidence, pointed in that direction, but the general map makes it clear how much the islands and open water will play in Pokemon Wind(s)/Pokemon Wave(s).

For now, fans will just have to wait and see what changes from this beta. Pokémon Gen 10 is expected to be revealed on Pokémon Day in February, and it will likely launch sometime in the fall of 2026. Seeing this glimpse of the region before then is undoubtedly nice, but the biggest question on everyone's mind, which hasn't been leaked, is what the new Pokémon actually looks like. Well, fans are months, if not a year+, away from that, but it will be interesting to see how the new region continues to shape up.
