Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Physical Special Edition Bundle Pre-Order Details

Between the Pokopia hype train and the Gen 10 reveal, the announcement that Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen is coming to Nintendo Switch feels like a lifetime ago. You might have forgotten that the ports even get their own commemorative packages. If you liked the look of them, or if this is the first you're hearing about them, you'll be able to pre-order the packs starting tomorrow.

Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Special Edition pre-orders begin March 17th

As confirmed via the games' respective store pages on the Japanese Pokemon Center website, pre-orders for the FireRed & LeafGreen Special Edition bundle begins March 17, 2026. The start time is listed as 18:00 which I assume will be 18:00 JST although the specific time zone is not specified.

That means an early start for those of you in the US who want to make sure you get your hands on one of these, which 6pm in Japan is 5am EST. That is if you can even get through the international shipping of it all. These special editions are only being released in Japan, and it is unclear if they will ship internationally.

If you can't purchase the packages through the Pokemon Center, it's worth trying sites that specialize in shipping Japanese products worldwide, such as Meccha Japan.

While all Pokemon — especially if it's a limited edition like these packs — tend to sell out in minutes, there's a chance The Pokemon Company has prepared for it this time. Not only does the pre-order window have an opening time, but we will also know when it closes – March 23, 2026. So, less than a week to place an order, again, assuming they don't immediately sell out.

The shop pages note it too the packages will not be shipped until January 2027. Between the pre-order window having an open and closed, along with a far off delivery date, there is every possibility that these are made to order. There will of course still be an upper limit, but hopefully there will be enough of these packs for everyone.

What do you get in the Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Special Edition Pack?

As for what makes them special, and why images of them were quickly shared far and wide after the reveal, even though they don't include physical copies of the game (you'll just get a download code for whichever one you choose), the bundle includes a set of Pokémon partner trinkets that aren't available anywhere else.

There are three glass ornaments in the bundle – one each for Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Each has a stand where their orb can be displayed, with an LED light in each that matches each Pokémon's type. Everything comes in a nice display case and costs 19,800 yen. That's roughly $125, a price that will almost certainly increase significantly if you plan on getting one of these shipped halfway around the world.
