These Pokemon concepts show that Drapion, Sunflora and Whiscash can look like Mega Evolutions

On Reddit, user EliDwebster shared his Pokémon Mega Evolution concept for the trio of Drapion, Sunflora and Whiscash. Although these Pokemon have almost nothing in common with each other, this allows EliDwebster to put a unique spin on all three designs. Mega Drapion's design “emphasizes more of its Scorpion side,” according to the artist, with huge green stingers and claws adding a pop of color to the artwork. Mega Sunflora zooms in on the plant's growth, with the soil beneath its feet now visible. To reflect this, its Mega Evolution also becomes a Grass/Ground type Pokemon. The Mega Whiscash gives the classic Gen 3 design a more eye-catching design, with the foam bubbles on the tail being the most noticeable addition. EliDwebster also provided shiny variants for all three Mega Evolutions, which are just alternate color scheme variants of the trio.

They've even considered what abilities each Pokemon would have after their Mega Evolution, while explaining their decisions in the comments. Mega Drapion would have Sharpness, which increases the power of disc moves by 50%, explaining that “the move Cross Poison is almost a signature move for it.” They have given their all Pokémon Mega Evolution concept for the Sunflora Triage ability, while Mega Whishcash could use Galvanize. This was to “emphasize its tankyness” according to the artist.

Sunflora, Whiscash, and Drapion were introduced in Generations 2, 3, and 4 respectively. As a result, all three are very old Pokémon by now, and they are usually common subjects for Pokémon fan project. It makes a lot of sense. While new Pokemon are fun and new, fans have had decades to latch on to older designs at this point. This means that when fans produce fan art, a lot of the time it's centered on designs that they might have been a fan of while playing the older one Pokémon game.
