If you were hoping for a blockbuster title for next month's batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, you might want to lower your expectations now.
Because after making Undisputed, a fairly mediocre boxing game with expensive DLC, the headline title for February, it looks like Sony is diving into the sport once again for March. This time with golf.
With the closure of Bluepoint games, I have officially lost all faith in PlayStation
Bluepoint Games has been shut down by Sony after they acquired the studio several years ago.
As reported by the ever-reliable billbil-kun at Dealabs, March's headline game will reportedly be PGA Tour: 2K25. The latest installment of 2K's PGA simulation game was released last February and scored an 80 on Metacritic out of 29 critic reviews.
Unlike 2K's other sports offerings (WWE and NBA), its golf offerings have been on longer timelines. Before 2K25, the last release was 2022.
Step onto golf's biggest stages and prove you can rise among the greats. Compete in the ultimate test: The PGA Championship, US Open and The Open Championship make their PGA TOUR 2K debut.
Rise through the ranks in an expanded MyCAREER, where each round builds your legacy. Forge your path to greatness with new MyPLAYER customizations, upgraded skill trees, and advanced course designer tools. Then take your chance against the best in ranked, casual and cross-platform multiplayer.
You didn't show up for second place.
Of course, there will be several other titles included. But coming back-to-back months with a sports title will be enough to get some pretty audible groans.
PlayStation Plus Essential titles haven't been all that epic to start 2026
For those keeping track at home, the start of 2026 for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers hasn't been as epic as one might hope, especially in light of price increases.
In January, PlayStation offered Need for Speed Unbound, Disney's Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Core Keeper to its subscribers. Then, in February, beyond Undisputed, Subnautica: Below Zero, Ultros, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown were also given to subs.
Yes, none of these titles are Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which once headlined PlayStation Plus, but it certainly isn't Final Fantasy 7 Remake either.
For reference, last March, these free titles were: Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
That said, we hope things get better soon.

I can understand remaking The Original God of War, but the entire trilogy feels like overkill
Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that they will remake three legendary God of War titles.
