Nintendo and Pocketpair are still involved in a legal dispute over patents thanks to the latter Pokemon with weapons, Palworld. While Nintendo has won some – with Palworld to remove the Palspheres feature to be too close to Poke Balls – not everything is going on that the developer would have hoped.
Nintendo is stuck that there is much about Palworld that has been deceived from Pokemon, and knowing its legal team, the mood does not look like it will be calculated at any time soon. But it looks like things have come in full circle, because Palworld now seems to have its own ripoff and it is at Nintendo Switch.
Palland looks very much like Palworld
As discovered by Nintendo Soup launched Palland on July 31, 2025 and is “a captivating survival, building and exploration game where it all starts with a humble base. In a huge and dangerous environment, you decide how to gather resources, expand your protection and handle wild creatures that can be both threats and valuable descriptions. It is developed by a studio called Boggysoft, which temporarily also made a game called Thief Life Simulator.
While the description can apply to almost all survival games, browsing through the images will reveal that it looks like a Ripoff of Palworld, with creatures that look obviously “inspired” by famous Pokemon. You can see Zubats, Crobats, a flying charmander and last, but most condemning, a gun. Although it was launched so recently, the price is already discounted to $ 3.99 from $ 9.99.
While Nintendo is busy fighting against the game as it claims has ripped off Pokemon, it completely missed the game that rips away its RIP Off. With the lawsuit that is currently during the process, it remains to be seen whether Palworld will in turn bring an action against Palland. Of course, it may not make a good argument in its own trial with Nintendo, so it is unlikely that pocketpair will continue legal action yet.
Popular games that get low quality ripoffs are not exactly new. Only recently did we report on Sony Suing Tencent for a game that looks very much like Horizon: Zero Dawn. Given that it has creatures that look very similar to different Pokémon, Nintendo can end up in the game itself.
