Monitoring just announced that every weekend in March will be a Double Match XP weekend to celebrate the game's ongoing success. Now, Monitoring fans have even more incentive to log into the hero shooter, as if Reign of Talon Season 1 wasn't enough.
February 10th marked a new era for Future Earth. The soft relaunch of Monitoringnow without the “2” in the title, included five new heroes, an updated user interface, and the first segment of its new year-long seasonal storyline. The season was a big hit, with Monitoring broke player records on both Steam and Twitch in its opening weeks.
Double Match XP weekends in Overwatch throughout March
Monitoring celebrating this success throughout March. According to a new post on Twitter, Blizzard has started a special “Player Appreciation Boost”, which will give Double Match XP every weekend for the entire month of March:
-
March 6–8
-
March 13–15
-
March 20–22
-
March 27–29
Double Match XP multiplies baseline Battle Pass XP Monitoring players earn by playing games. This usually averages between 700 and 1,000 XP, with more reward for victories or longer games. Playing in a group gives an extra 20% boost, and queuing for in-demand roles can give between 100 and 500 extra XP on top of that, all multiplied by the Double XP bonus. Those who take advantage of all these bonuses together can easily get over 2,000 Battle Pass XP for a single win.
This is not the first Double Match XP weekend Monitoring has held to celebrate its renewed success. From February 20th to February 23rd, Blizzard granted this bonus along with five free Loot Boxes. There are no extra Loot Boxes to claim this time around, but Double Match XP will return more often to compensate.
That said, there are still a few days left to earn some extra Loot Boxes. Twitch Drops for Monitoring Reign of Talon Season 1: Conquest is live through March 8 and offers up to 10 free Loot Boxes – two of which are legendary – simply by watching streamers on Twitch. However, it takes 13 hours to earn all of these rewards; as of press time, less than 55 hours remain until the campaign ends, so fans who haven't started should start watching soon.
What's next in Overwatch?
Now, Monitoring is in the middle of its fourth week of the Conquest event. This main game activity for Reign of Talon Season 1 has players align with either Overwatch or Talon to achieve objectives, earn rewards, and prove their loyalty. The five-week event ends on March 17, meaning fans will soon see which faction will reign supreme and, consequently, which Echo skin will be given to all players.
Talon won weeks one and three, while Overwatch won week two and is poised to win week four, meaning both sides will likely be tied in the final week.
Monitoring Reign of Talon Season 1 is nearing the halfway point before the launch of Season 2. The Mid-Season Update is expected to arrive on March 10th or 17th, bringing a slew of new hero balance tweaks, plus a Mythic hero skin for Mei. A new collaboration between Monitoring and Nier: Automata also starts on March 10, featuring Adam Lifeweaver, A2 Vendetta, 9S Wuyang, 2B Kiriko, and Commander White Mercy.
Second season of Monitoring's Reign of Talon will be released on April 14th, bringing even more surprises. A new story arc, potentially including a community event like Conquest, will arrive, along with another playable hero. Post-match awards are coming back to the game, plus an official port for Switch 2. Antarctic Peninsula map rework, Ramattra added Stadium and Monitoring 10th Anniversary are just some of the other features that fans can expect in this upcoming update.
