One Piece has officially unleashed the power of Loki's Devil Fruit in the Arc of Elbaf. It goes without saying that it's easily one of the most overpowered abilities that Oda has introduced into the story over the years. Loki's Devil Fruit was considered a monstrously powerful ability that held the potential to destroy not only Elbaf, but the entire world. Now this power has been shown by Oda in its full glory, and needless to say, it's incredibly impressive.
As is the case with all Mythical Zoan abilities i One PieceLoki's Devil Fruit power also likely has a special ability, and so far Oda hasn't explicitly shown it to fans, but this power has already been teased in the story.
Loki's Dragon Devil Fruit is a mythical zoan
Loki holds the power of the Nidhoggr dragon
Loki's Devil Fruit was first teased at the beginning of the Elbaf arc. It was stated that 14 years ago, the greatest king in the land of Elbaf, King Harald, was murdered by his own son, Prince Loki, who came to be known as the Cursed Prince of Elbaf. Loki was then accused of stealing the country's legendary Devil Fruit and consuming it. According to the people of Elbaf, this made him resemble the sun god. The Elbaf Devil Fruit was said to be the country's national treasure and as such would always be incredibly overpowered.
In the Elbaf flashback that followed, fans finally got a proper look at Loki's Devil Fruit powers as he battled King Harald. While Oda chose to keep things in silhouette, it was clear, at least m, that Loki's powers were Mythical Zoan type and it allowed him to transform into some sort of creature. More than that, it gave Loki so much power that he could absolutely demolish King Harald in battle, and it showed how overpowered this Devil Fruit was.
It's official: One Piece confirms the new strongest character in the world
One Piece has a new strongest character, which was confirmed by Oda in the last chapter.
In One Piece Chapter 1174, Oda finally released Loki's Devil Fruit power properly, and it was clear to see that it allowed him to transform into a giant black dragon which engulfed the whole sky above Elbaf. Loki's dragon Devil Fruit likely allows him to transform into Nidhogg, a mythological creature from Norse mythology, and it goes without saying that it has immense power. As is the case with all Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits, Loki's fruit will also grant him a special power.
Mythical Zoans can be distinguished from other Zoan Devil Fruits in that they allow transformations into mythical creatures and that they all have a special power that sets them apart from the others. For example, Sengoku's Mythical Zoan allows him to produce shockwaves from his hands. Likewise, Katarina Devon's ability to copy the appearance and possibly even the powers of other individuals. Kaido's Mythical Zoan gave him the ability to manipulate certain elements as well as near indestructibility, and so on and so forth. In the case of Loki, this special ability can come in two very unique ways, a creature manipulation of fireand the other being soul damage.
Loki's hidden ability may be fire manipulation
Western Dragons can spit fire
The first thing to consider when considering Loki's Devil Fruit powers is his ability to manipulate fire. When Loki first debuted as the Nidhogg dragon in One Piece Chapter 1174, he was shown using the power of lightning. Clearly, Oda equates the Lightning with Loki, and that already makes him a very powerful individual. But, as previously teased in Elbaf, the two biggest weaknesses in the land are lightning and fire. It would make perfect sense for Loki to wield both abilities.
On top of that, Loki is a western dragon, and all western dragons have the ability to breathe fire. Loki with the ability to manipulate fire and lightning would make it absolutely perfect. It would also complement his weapon Ragnir, which has clearly shown the ability to manipulate ice. In that case, Loki would have both extreme powers at his disposal, and that would make him one of the strongest characters in all of One Piece.
Say, have you heard of the Galleila Band? — Jarul to Harald
Loki's fire would also be necessary given what Oda wants this character to accomplish in the future. If Loki is the one who goes on to free the giants known as the Galleila Band, then he would need the power of fire to melt the ice they were trapped in. Again, that would be very important.
One Piece: Loki's Dragon Devil Fruit, explained
Loki's black dragon Devil Fruit has finally been revealed, and it is one of the strongest in One Piece history.
Loki might be able to do soul damage with his devil fruit
Loki could kill a holy knight
In addition to Loki's incredible ability to manipulate lightning and possibly even spit fire, he also appears to have the ability to do Soul Damage. This was first shown in Loki's fight against King Harald. Despite both Gaban and Shanks fighting Harald and taking mortal damage with their Conqueror's Haki-infused attacks, they were unable to slow his regeneration and kill him for good. It was only after Loki ate his Devil Fruit that he was able to completely destroy Harald. Even for someone like Imu this came as a surprise as Harald was an overwhelmingly powerful weapon that should not have been able to be killed. Still, Loki made it through with the power of his Devil Fruit.
Are you the worst father to put your own son through this? — Loki to Harald
-
This leads one to believe so he has the ability to damage the soul directly with his Devil Fruit powers. If that were the case, it would make perfect sense why Loki's Devil Fruit is as dangerous as it is, as it would make him the direct counter to Imu's contract-binding powers and allow him to properly save Elbaf going forward.
-
It would also make sense why this Devil Fruit was heavily guarded by the country until 14 years ago. It must be remembered that Loki's devil fruit was passed down the royal line for centuries. No one could eat this fruit until the right time came, and that's when it was finally consumed by Loki. Perhaps the fruit itself knew that the Great War was almost here and that it was the right time to be unleashed, given that the demon army would be on the move.
Loki's Devil Fruit that allows him to manipulate fire and damage the soul would make him the absolute best character to oppose the influence of Imu and fans absolutely cannot wait to see what Oda does with this incredibly powerful Devil Fruit. Added to that is the power of Ragnir, which cannot be underestimated at any cost. All these things together make Loki a monster with various unique abilities that can rival even the world's sovereign, Imu.
