One Piece In Chapter 1176, Eiichiro Oda took a page out of Kishimoto's book when Franky, one of the most important members of the Straw Hat Pirates, had a major rise in power. In the latest chapter of One Piece's Elbaf arc, Oda had Vegapunk use ODC, or Omni Drain Converters, which proceeded to convert natural energy into Super Vega Cola for Franky to consume, giving him a massive power surge similar to Masashi Kishimoto's Sage Mode Naruto.

How Vegapunk's ODC borrows Sage Mode from Naruto
In Naruto's world, Sage Mode is an incredible power that relies on natural energy. In the words of Fukasaku, who taught this power to Naruto, the Sage energy is present everywhere in the world, but to feel it one must undergo special training. Naruto Uzumaki was taught how to feel this energy on Mount Myoboku using special pada oil. After that, Naruto began to feel and learn to absorb this energy, and once it was absorbed enough, Naruto was able to tap into natural energy, taking his overall abilities to a whole new level.
Basically, Naruto's Sage Mode is a very unique power, but One Piece just did something very similar with the character Franky. In One Piece Chapter 1176, Oda Vegapunk introduced a very unique technological tool called ODC or Omni-Drain Converters. In Vegapunk's own words, there is an incredible amount of natural energy all around them in Elbaf. Omni-Drain converters can use this energy and convert it into a consumable form. Using these two Omni-Drain Converters, Vegapunk was able to absorb all the fires that consumed Owl's Library and the school in Elbaf, then converted this natural form of energy into Coke for Franky.

How Franky uses natural energy
Immediately after Vegapunk used the power of the ODC in One Piece chapter 1176, the entire flames went out in seconds, and the library and school were completely frozen. This shows how efficient Vegapunk's technology is in transforming one form of energy into another. This also makes perfect sense, considering Vegapunk has previously stated that flames are an incredible source of power. In fact, Vegapunk's ultimate creation, the Mother Flame, is basically an immortal flame that he believes can actually power the entire world, solving the energy crisis and things like poverty once and for all.

As such, it's no surprise to see Vegapunk use ODC to convert flame energy into something very meaningful and useful for Franky. Using these flames, Vegapunk created what he calls Super Vega Cola, and when Franky consumed Super Vega Cola, he was basically charged with the natural energy to incredibly high levels. In a very simple way, Franky is now similar to Naruto Uzumaki in the sense that he can use a power very similar to Sage Mode, but in very different ways.

When Franky consumed the Super Vega Cola, he received a huge boost of natural energy from the flames contained within Elbaf. With this newfound power, Franky's overall physical abilities reached sky-high levels. In fact, even his leap was so high that he effortlessly ascended several hundred meters into the sky. He then proceeded to fight the Lindworm in battle, and with just a single blow he destroyed the beast.
It must be remembered that even before this power-up, Franky was strong enough to decimate Vice Admirals, given that he managed to defeat one in the Egghead Arc. Now Franky should be even stronger, meaning he can easily hold his own against the likes of mighty Yonko Commanders. With this new power-up, Franky should be in the same league as Jinbe, if not even stronger, and he should be someone who can decimate the vast majority of powerful enemies with a single punch. All of this is made possible by Franky using natural energy similar to Sage Mode from Naruto, and it really is a brilliant connection between the two series.
