The admirals are some of the strongest characters that exist in the world of One Piece. They are known to be the military face of the World Government and the strongest force the Marines possess. Over the years, fans have come to witness the admirals' incredible power on several occasions, but they have always paled in comparison to the Yonko.
One Piece's new achievement proves once again that it is the king of manga
One Piece is the king of Manga, and it proves why once again.
It goes without saying that Admirals are extremely powerfulbut Yonko has always had better displays. Fans have seen several admirals battle the Yonko, and none have actually managed to hold the upper hand. After all, Oda has now confirmed to fans an admiral who actually can stand your ground against a Yonko and even have a chance to win. It seems that every era of One Piece at least the world has had an admiral who can achieve this feat. In the earlier era this was Admiral Sengokuwho later moved on to become admiral of the fleet. In the current era, this is Admiral Sakazuki, who is currently the Admiral of the Fleet.

It goes without saying Fleet Admiral Sakazuki is a Yonko level threat right now. Under Sakazuki, the navy has become more aggressive than ever before and has even begun to pursue the likes of the Four Emperors of the New World.
As for his individual strength, fans know that Sakazuki is a monster with the Logia-type Magu Magu no Mi, which allows him to destroy on a large scale with magma.

As it stands, Admiral Sakazuki is still not directly involved by Oda in major battles, which just means that once he does get involved, his strength will be absolutely incredible. As Akainu gets into battles, he will show fans why he is a threat that rivals the likes of the Yonko of the One Piece world.

In the previous era before the Great Pirate Era, fans knew that Admiral Sengoku was also a Yonko-level legendary figure. Although this was heavily debated at one point in the story, the fact is that Roger himself considered Sengoku a worthy opponent.

If Roger thought Sengoku was worthy of fighting him, even if he wasn't on his level, fans know he must have been strong enough to compete with the likes of Yonko. Even the legendary one Whitebeard had his own rivalry with Sengokuand that, again, shows it he was a Yonko level threat.
In addition to that, Sengoku is the only other marine that fans now have access to Conqueror's Haki after Garp. In other words, Sengoku is an absolute top tier in the One Piece world in the old era, just like Akainu is right now.
All other admirals are weaker than Yonko
As for the other admirals in the One Piece world, such as Kizaru, Green Bull, and Fujitora, it is a fact that they are weaker than the likes of Sengoku and Akainu. It goes without saying that they are monsters in their own right, but their feats certainly don't measure up to the other two legends.

Kuzan, for example, stated himself that even against an old and weakened Garphe could not have won without the help of Blackbeard's pirate chiefs. Admiral Greenbull was absolutely humiliated by Shanks very recently in the story. Meanwhile, Kizaru was unable to defeat Luffy, who hasn't even peaked as a Yonko at this point, and was easily paralyzed by him.
Admirals are certainly weaker than Yonko of One Piece the world, but Fleet Admirals Akainu and Sengoku are the exceptionsand it makes sense, since both went on to become fleet admirals.
