The Nintendo Switch 2 Has sold over 2.4 million units in the US within the first three months, according to a new report from a marketing company for the gaming industry. The reported sale of Switch 2 set it 5% before the record pace that Playstation 4 held, which sold an estimated 2.2 million units in the United States from November 2013 to the end of January 2014.
Since its arrival on June 5, Switch 2 has quickly set sales records in different markets. Within the first few weeks of accessibility, Switch 2 became the fastest sold console in the United States and sold over 1.6 million units within its first month. Switch 2's increase in the United States was partly due to the success of the first party's Nintendo game as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. In addition to backward compatibility with most switch titles, which included games that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Which received updates to take advantage of the upgraded hardware, Switch 2's choice of available titles continues to grow.
Switch 2 continues to break US sales register
Three months into the life expectancy of Switch 2, a new industry sales report indicated more continued growth for Nintendo's latest console. As reported by Mat Piscatella from Circana, Switch 2 sold a record -breaking 2.4 million units in the United States at the end of August 2025, which put it in front of the PS4 and the original switch in the same range. Switch 2 sold 5% more than PS4 did within the first 90 days, with the later establishment of the previous record of 2.2 million units sold in the United States. By comparison, Switch 2 sold an estimated two million units in Japan between June 5 and mid -September. Sales of Nintendo's latest console was able to compensate the declining sales figures for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Original Switch consoles, which had taken a decline compared to August 2024's hardware sales.
Piscatella added that Switch 2's time -oriented sales were 77% before the original switch during a similar range. As of July 2025, the global sales figures for Switch 2 had already exceeded about six million units. But between the base switch 2 and Mario Kart World Bunt, it is unclear which SKU was the majority of Switch 2 sales at that point.
With first party titles that Pokemon Legends: ZA and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Still waiting for release, Switch 2's sales are expected to climb during the holiday season in 2025. Only the time will show how many Switch 2 units will be sold at the end of the year.
