To switch 2 or not to change 2, that is the question.
But while we have a number of games to look forward to in the short term, it seems that the flow of third -party games and ends up can soon dry up. Getting popular Triple-A games on the console is undoubtedly one of the company's biggest goals, but according to Trusted Source Nate the Hate, it may be a while before we see that more publishers announce their games for Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch 2 Dev sets have been an important issue
In his latest podcast, Nate talked about the lack of third-party and indie gaming messages for the console. Nintendo revealed a number of games during its dedicated showcase, but announcements have since dried. It seems that this issue is going back to GDC 2025, where Digital Foundry said that many developers and partners still do not have Switch 2 development kits.
“This is something that remains true,” Nate said. “And it's not just indie developers. It is also the double-A and low triple-a developers who currently lack access to dev-statements. And for many of them, they sit there and scratch their heads and wonder when Nintendo will give us access.”
Hans Co-Host, modern vintage player suggested that about two-thirds of the publishers and developers who created games for the previous console have not had access to Switch 2 Dev statements. None of the two could give a reason why Nintendo keeps dev-statements so exclusive, especially since it wants more third-party games.
Later in the section, Nate, “I also know of studios such as Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco and many others are just waiting. They have games they want to announce for the platform. They have a lot of support that comes to this platform.” He also mentioned that Microsoft also plans to support the console, but the Dev Kit question can see that all these announcements are pushed back to 2026.
