Nintendo Switch 1 lasted longer than these surprising comparisons

Nintendo Switch is one of Nintendo's most successful consoles and manages to compete against larger, more powerful hardware by utilizing its handheld functionality and a power plant of first partisons. But with Switch 2 now available, the first switch enters its pension phase. While Nintendo has not interrupted the product, it is no longer its current focus.

Originally, on March 3, 2017, Switch lasted 1 impressive 3,016 days, or eight years, three months and two days. It is long in the entertainment world. For context, here are some other things in life that Switch 1 managed to survive.

US Civil War

The United States has a long history of going to war with other countries. So imagine the historical meaning of the time they went to war with themselves. The US civil war conflict in the southern states' desire to distinguish state legislation from federal legislation, especially in slavery.

Assumption that the war “began” with Fort Sumter attack on April 12, 1861 and ended with the surrender of southern General Robert E. Lee on April 9, 1865, it was only four years. Shorter war is at least better than long.

Matrix online servers

Will anyone else remember Hit MMO game, The Matrix Online? No? It is not surprising. The Multiplayer game was a less than Stellar interpretation of the digital world presented in the film.

The matrix Online was released on March 22, 2005, just at the top of MMO-boom, making it hard pressed for the player's attention. This lack of continued player support would result in the servers being shut down four years later, August 1, 2009.

Oblivion was a beloved entry into the long-term fantasy RPG series. The remarkable success of the current gene remake is sufficient evidence. But even this smash hit did not survive Switch 1.

Oblivion was released on March 20, 2006 and was eventually succeeded by Skyrim on November 11, 2010, a four and a half -year period.

However, Skyrim has the switch -type. Elder Scrolls 6 has not yet come out, which makes Skyrim the last game, technically. This means that Skyrim from writing has lived for almost 5,000 days (over 13 years).

Dungeons & Dragons (4th edition)

The timeless table top RPG game Dungeons & Dragons has lasted for decades and managed to turn into the public eye even today. But not every version of the game was a long -lasting success. The fourth official edition of D&D is undoubtedly the least enjoyed version of the game and was replaced (relatively) quickly by the absolute monster which is 5th.

If we go when the player's manuals were released, 4th came out on June 6, 2008 and was replaced by the 5th manual on August 19, 2014, about six years later.

The fourth edition was so unpopular that even though it was out, most players preferred to play 3.5, the previous version.

Hawke's Kirkwall Adventure – Dragon Age 2

Hawke, the playable protagonist in Dragon Age 2, goes through a lot during the game's events. This includes a seven -year -old stint in the city of Kirkwall. They arrive at 9:30 dragon after a difficult trip. They then spend a year working with a debt, followed by a short adventure with Varric in the deep roads.

They then spend three years before returning to relevance to more adventure. It is another three years before Knight-Commander Meredith has taken control of the city, and the events in the game reach a conclusion. Hawke disappeared mysteriously after that, about 9:37 Drake. This marks a seven -year period that they spent in Kirkwall.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

It would not be a fair comparison if we do not also measure it against competitor consoles. The Xbox 360 and PS3 remained for a long time, but even they did not survive the switch.

Xbox 360 was launched on November 22, 2005. Exactly eight years later, November 22, 2013, it was replaced by Xbox One. Playstation started PS3 on November 11, 2006 and was replaced by PS4 on November 15, 2013. It is only shy for eight years as well.

The original Nintendo Entertainment System

Speaking of consoles. NES, also known as Famicom in Japan, was Nintendo's very first transfer to home entertainment consoles and released on July 15, 1983. It was a revolution that established gaming legends that stand strong today, such as Mario and Zelda.

NES would be replaced by Super Nintendo, or SNES, on November 21, 1990. Super Nintendo was an equally impressive hope in entertainment technology and a worthy successor to NES.

House (TV Medical Drama)

House is an American TV series with Hugh Laurie, who plays an eccentric and often offensive medical genius. The show centers around him to solve difficult medical cases, often with unorthodox methods or approaches, much to his colleagues.

The show was first broadcast on November 16, 2004, with its eighth and final season which ended on May 21, 2012. This gave it a driving time of seven and a half years.

Classic World of Warcraft

To be fair, World of Warcraft is still strong, with new extensions that are still happening regularly. However, the original experience has been away for several years. We talk about the time before Pandaria -fog came out. That enlargement introduced sufficiently large changes to be regarded as a turning point for MMO, with ever earlier to be “classic.” Since WOW was launched on November 23, 2004, it leaves only shy for eight years before Pandaria fog came out on September 25, 2012.

Blizzard himself recognizes this and has his own World of Warcraft Classic, which currently offers an old-school version of the game ranging from launch up to Pandaria. This version is currently available and considered a separate thing for this list.
