New Vegas was at Fallout Day 2025, but not in the way you'd hoped

Bethesda just held its second ever Fall-out Daytime broadcast on what the franchise calls Reclamation Day – when those who entered the (secure) vaults would emerge in the wasteland after the rain of nukes and resettle America. The second annual showcase was streamed on October 23 and celebrated Fall-out with a number of updates and announcements. This year was a particularly notable one for the franchise, and both Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas had big birthdays, turned 10 and 15 respectively.

Fallout: New Vegas was released on October 19, 2010, while Fallout 4 was discontinued on November 10, 2015.

Fallout: New Vegas has been held in high regard since its launch and is considered by many players to be the best of the modern entries. A remastered or reissued version has long been desired. With that New Vegas15th anniversary, combined with season 2 of Amazon's Fall-out The TV show premieres later this year and will see the cast head to the iconic city, fans were crossing their fingers that this would potentially result in some big news on Broadcast. Specifically, an official reveal of a remastered or updated version to honor the memory New Vegas' milestone was hoped for. And while New Vegas was mentioned during the show, the actual announcement that followed was a huge disappointment.

While Bethesda had previously outlined what it had planned to cover by the 2025s Fall-out daytime broadcast, there was still hope that it might just have something special planned due to it being such a big moment for Fallout: New Vegas. There was even some precedent to back this up, as just earlier this year in April, Bethesda held a similar event for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Although it was already known that the project was underway due to its existence being revealed during previous legal proceedings, it was still a welcome surprise when Oblivion remastered was shadowed under the current. A repeat of this trick for New Vegas was then not as far as it might have seemed.

But when it was time to focus on Fallout: New Vegasinstead of the above, there was just a short series of clips of Obsidian developers expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to work on it and for the fans. It was a nice moment to be sure, but what Bethesda actually revealed about what it would offer for the anniversary was more than a little lackluster.

What is included in the Fallout: New Vegas 15th Anniversary Bundle?

fallout new vegas 2025 broadcast merch

  • Ultimate box edition of Fallout: New Vegas (PC)

  • Victor statue

  • Vault Boy pin

  • Set of Rorschach evaluation cards

  • Mojave Express patch

  • NCR Recon patch

While these items are fun and stylish enough on their own, the fact that this package is all that will matter New Vegas' anniversary seems a bit of a disservice and one that really leaves a lot to be desired.

Any Hope for a Fallout: New Vegas Remaster is now all but gone after the 2025 Fallout Day Broadcast

Fallout New Vegas Action

It looks like there was ever any hope for one Fallout: New Vegas remaster or re-release, it has now been squashed, and there are apparently no plans for one. Fans can take comfort in the fact that there will be one more event, the Fallout Fan Celebration, which will take place on November 15, 2025. This unofficial showcase will be held in the real-life version of a location in New VegasPioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, Nevada. Notably, this year developer Obsidian Entertainment is confirmed to participate to provide a “trip down memory lane” for the game. However, it should be remembered that it is even less likely that any news about one New Vegas remaster or related project will arise from this. New Vegas' rather uninspired performance at this year's broadcast, especially in light of its 15th anniversary, is likely to leave a bitter taste in many fans' mouths.
