New Fallout games are financed by canceling Zenimax's MMO, says Insider

The effects of Xbox's last round of layoffs were huge, to see thousands of employees lose their jobs and several games were canceled. One of these interrupted games was an unannounced MMO from Zenimax Online, code name Blackbird.

The Xbox Insider Jez Corden has suggested that this was interrupted so that Xbox can focus his efforts on more downfall games, and today he claims to have more evidence that this is the case. The cord talks about the Xbox Two podcast and says he got wind in an all-hand meeting at Zenimax Online, where employees were told that the new MMO was canceled so that the studio could make “strategic investments in other areas”.

Xbox is already planning to hire new staff after termination, says Insider

“I mentioned on the podcast last week that I had heard that Zenimax Online Studios Blackbird games were traded for investments in Fallout -Franchisen. One of these games was Fallout 5,” says Corden.

“Last week it was an all-hand meeting internally in Microsoft,” he continues. “One of the questions the staff has asked was why was blackbird interrupted. And from what I was told, they said that one of the reasons they canceled Blackbird was to make strategic investments in other areas and that they will hire hundreds of people in the next few months to fill in some of these new initiatives.

“Now, in that meeting, Fallout 5 did not mention specifically, but given that it was literally days after I had heard that that meeting occurred internally on Microsoft […] That kind of extra faith in the rumor that I had heard that it revolved around Fallout. “

So, as the cord admits himself, devs has not been told exactly which games will be made with the cash saved from Blackbird. But given the time for this and when he heard about the fact that the various downfall games were in the works, he believes that the two decisions are related.

This would also be very meaningful. The Fallout show has been a huge success and one that ruled the interest in the games. However, Bethesda is notorious to take things one game at a time, and the next game will be the older Scrolls 6, which is year away. If Microsoft would wait for Bethesda to give us Fallout 5, there is a good chance that the show would have wrapped for several seasons under his belt when it starts.
