New and upcoming Xbox Series games for 2026

2026 Xbox Video Game Calendar is starting to take shape, and it should be a pretty good year for the console. Microsoft's brand received a lot of criticism throughout 2025, but the Xbox Series X/S has never stopped receiving great games, even if none of them are exclusive to the system. 2026 will be no exception, with dozens of new releases coming each month across a spectrum of genres.

Since it can be tiring to keep up with everything, let's simplify the process and go through the big upcoming Xbox games that should define 2026. Hopefully, it will be a memorable year for all the right reasons.

Note that the focus is on North American release dates for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One games. Expansions will also be listed. That said, this lineup is not exhaustive, as the focus is on big plays.

  • January 30: The 9th Charnel
  • January 30: Front Mission 3: Remake

January 2026 is off to a pretty good start, although the releases are tracking in the second half of the month. The biggest new game coming to Xbox Series X is 2XKORiot's fighter that will be free to play. Tag-team combat is the main focus, and lol the developer knows a thing or two about creating a live service project that can be downright life-consuming.

If you're primarily into single-player games, the Xbox Series X lineup for January 2026 has something for you. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade finally lands on Microsoft's console, years after being available on PS5 and PC. Code Vein II should be a decent Soulslike, and it could be good if it improves on its predecessor's foundation.

  • February 27: Resident Evil Requiem
  • February 27: Tales of Berseria remastered

On paper, February 2026 is almost frustratingly packed with games. How can we even keep up with all the major releases? Xbox Series users won't have to wait long for things to get going, either Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined launched on the fifth of the month. About a week later, Romeo is a dead man will arrive to hopefully satisfy people's cravings for hack and slash goodness, and it will be quickly followed by Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, Reborn animaland High on Life 2. All of these games look amazing.

The second half of the month has Resident Evil Requiemwhich is (obviously) February 2026's biggest new Xbox game. It's been years since the last brand new chapter in Capcom's series, and Requiem can't come soon enough.

March 2026 Upcoming Xbox Series Games

Fatal Frame, Monster Hunter Stories, Crimson Desert and more

Continuing the momentum from its predecessor, March 2026 has all Xbox games. You can get Fatal Frame 2 if you still crave more nightmares, although you can also pick up John Carpenter's Toxic Commando if you just want to shoot hordes of zombies. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection should be a rock solid creature collection JRPG, and Crimson Desert may be the most ambitious title of the month. Finally, Mouse: PI for rent looks incredible.

John Carpenter's Toxic Commando zombies

The biggest upcoming zombie games

New zombie games are always on the horizon, and 2026 will be no exception, as some big titles have already been announced.

April 2026 Upcoming Xbox Series Games

Pragmata, Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, and more

  • April 16: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss
  • April 23: Kingdom's Return: Time-Eating Fruit and the Ancient Monster
  • April 24: Pragmatics
  • April 28: Diablo IV: Lord of the Hat
  • April 30: Invincible VS

Currently, April 2026 doesn't have too many confirmed games, but it already has a couple of juggernauts. Pragmatics looks poised to become one of Capcom's weirdest projects, and that's a compliment indeed. The unorthodox combat should rock, just because Capcom knows what it's doing. Invincible VS should be a bloody superhero fighting game, while Diablo IV: Lord of the Hat is the RPG's next expansion.
