Naruto's 7 Strongest Non-Rasengan Abilities

The main character Naruto Uzumaki happy fans of Naruto with all sorts of amazing tricks, jutsu and transformations to keep upping the ante in episode after episode. Over time, the mighty Rasengan emerged as the most iconic jutsu in Naruto's arsenal, not to mention one of the strongest. The Rasengan is an A-ranked jutsu that Naruto's own father Minato created, and of course Naruto finds ways to make it bigger and better than ever.

That said, Naruto is hardly a one-trick pony with the Rasengan. Many of his flashiest victories over foes like Kabuto and The Six Paths of Pain were possible because of the Rasengan, but Naruto has a lot more to offer than that. Aside from the baseline Rasengan, Naruto can wield similar jutsu and a variety of forms to challenge any enemy on the battlefield. Some of these abilities and forms are almost as iconic as the Rasengan itself, and Naruto Uzumaki simply wouldn't be the same without them.

5 Things Naruto Does Better Than Any Other Shonen Anime

These areas are where Naruto absolutely dominates all shonen anime. No one comes close.

Taijutsu suits Naruto's practical creativity and courage

It might seem almost silly to bring up basic taijutsu in an anime world filled with magical fire, illusions, and tailed monsters, but it still has some significance. Of course, the most dedicated taijutsu users like Might Guy and Rock Lee take this technique to the highest level, but Naruto is not that far behind. From the beginning, he has been a practical thinker who thrives in the heat of the moment with physical challenges.

This is why taijutsu has remained a simple yet powerful tool in Naruto's arsenal. He started off as a decent taijutsu user, like when he faced Neji Hyuga in the Chunin Exam arc, and then took it to the next level when he faced newer enemies in Naruto Shippuden. It's no coincidence that two of Naruto's other trademark abilities, the Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Rasengan, rely heavily on taijutsu to function.

The Shadow Clone Jutsu helped Naruto become a Ninja in the first place

Naruto can fight anyone with an army of his own

One of the first jutsu Naruto ever used in the anime, and the first he used to great effect, was the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Alongside the Rasengan itself, this is Naruto's most distinctive and memorable jutsu, one that has served him well since Episode 1. Unlike the Rasengan, which was invented by Naruto's father Minato Namikaze, the Shadow Clone Jutsu is the brainchild of Tobirama Senju. Naruto only has a distant connection to the Second Hokage, but he takes jutsu much further than Tobirama ever could.

Naruto: 8 characters stronger than a tailed beast

The Tailed Beasts are strong, but they don't stand a chance against these powerful Naruto characters.

In particular, it helps how Naruto has the massive chakra of Kurama within him, which has been fueling Naruto's Shadow Clone armies since the beginning. No genin could produce hundreds of clones at once or even a platoon's worth, but Naruto made it look easy. As time went on, Naruto found more and better uses for his clones, such as helping him create and launch jutsu such as the Rasengan and its variants. Naruto can even transform his clones to trick the enemy, such as in the Forest of Death.

The Rasenshuriken can crush any enemy in seconds

The Rasenshuriken sits alongside the original Rasengan as a swirling, melee-based jutsu that Naruto can shape in his hands. The original Rasengan used generic chakra, with Minato trying and failing to add elemental chakra to his jutsu. Later his son Naruto used Shadow Clones to get around that problem and added wind based chakra until a new jutsu was formed: the Rasenshuriken.

Naruto trained hard in Naruto Shippuden to invent this amazing new move, perfection in time to face the immortal duo Hidan and Kakuzu of the Akatsuki organization. Teams 7 and 10 had a tough time against these villains, only for Naruto to swoop in and wipe out Kakuzu with his awesome new jutsu. However, the Rasenshuriken requires a lot of chakra, so Naruto uses it to a limited extent. In later arcs, this jutsu was overshadowed by even stronger jutsu and forms that Naruto used, so it is half-forgotten today.

Sage Mode was needed to overcome the awesome power of pain

Many of Naruto's most potent abilities are transformations, a way for him to honor the Super Saiyan transformations in Dragon Ball Z. Over time, Naruto began using increasingly stronger and more advanced transformations, such as his one-tailed biju cloak. The next big step actually had little to do with Kurama's chakra, with Naruto instead training on Mt. Myoboku to master Sage Mode, the same jutsu that Jiraiya and Hashirama Senju had once practiced.

These iconic moments prove why Naruto is the GOAT

This amazing ability was just what Naruto needed to catch up to Pain's power levels and defeat that villain once and for all. It wasn't easy, but Naruto managed, and it helped how his shadow clones remained on Mount Myoboku to continue channeling more nature energy into the real Naruto. Notably, Naruto's use of Sage Mode was more refined than Jiraiya's own, considering how Naruto's face was less marked and deformed than Jiraiya's had been.

Kurama Chakra Mode was the symbol of Naruto's mastery over Kurama

Even with Sage Mode at his disposal Naruto knew he still needed Kurama's immense power to see him through some of the toughest matches. To that end, Naruto moved past his one-tailed cloak and even his terrifying four-tailed cloak to master Kurama's chakra. After training with Killer B as a fellow jinchuriki, Naruto was ready to become one with the monster within. It led to one of Naruto's greatest abilities of all: Kurama Chakra Mode.

Also known as the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, this amazing transformation made Naruto a force to be reckoned with even when facing the most powerful ninjas of the era. In such a form, Naruto can use the Tailed Beast Balls as yet another variant of the Rasengan. With Kurama Chakra Mode, Naruto can even manifest parts of the nine-tailed fox's body as appropriate, a nice expression of Naruto's one-and-a-half nature.

The power scales in Naruto Shippuden didn't stop when Naruto learned to fight with Kurama as one. Eventually, even that wasn't enough to take on enemies like a fully powered Sasuke Uchiha, so Naruto added more abilities of his own to the mix. At that point, the truth of Hagoromo Otsutsuki's power and nature became known, and Naruto harnessed that power to become someone truly incredible. Thus Naruto ended up with Asura Kurama Mode.

Some Naruto characters earned respect, others earned frustration that never quite went away, testing fans' patience throughout the series.

This form mixed Kurama's chakra with the Six Paths Senjutsu to transform Naruto into the ultimate warrior. In particular, Naruto is able to use the Shadow Clones to form a six-armed being, one that can use the greatest jutsu available to face Sasuke on equal terms. No other ability could have ensured Naruto's survival when faced with a fearsome attack like Indra's Arrow.

Baryon mode is terrifyingly powerful but also expensive to use

Naruto must be careful not to overuse Baryon Mode in Battle

IN Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsa fully grown Naruto Uzumaki managed to transform once more. His titanic abilities saw him through the biggest and nastiest battles in Naruto Shippudenonly for events of Boruto to force his hand as he grew back. Thus Baryon Mode came to be, one of Naruto's newest and most devastating abilities of all.

This situation is a double-edged sword, and Naruto knows it. This form gives Naruto unmatched speed and power, but it also quickly drains Naruto's and Kurama's chakra and even Naruto's life force. Naruto must use this astonishing ability with great care to keep it stable and relatively safe to use. Therefore, Naruto will not activate Baryon Mode for any fight; this is his high-risk ace in the hole.
