Opening the mysterious door is bound to the pools that can be interacted with and lighted on fire. You have to light the pools in a specific order, where the first ones are against Northernest part of the cave. Right before the last corner of the cave comes a pool on a pedestal, interact with it to light it in fire, and it will remain illuminated. The main solution on this puzzle is to light the pool in order of how many pools are in the set.

After the first pool, go to the lower right corner of the cave and go into the cell where you freed some prisoners under the cage in the dark assignments.
