MultiVersus Stage Leaks Explained

After the official release, Warner Bros.' crossover fighting game, MultiVersus, has seen many new additions in the form of fighters, stages and cosmetics. Recently, leaks and data mines have revealed many potential new stages for the game, which, if true, could paint a vivid picture of MultiVersus' future.

In its test rollout, MultiVersus saw a wave of tremendous success that very quickly petered out. In an effort to prevent the dropout from affecting the official release, Warner Bros. took full advantage of the live service nature of the game and often added new ones MultiVersus content to keep players invested. However, with the games near constant updates, it has become a popular target for data miners and leakers. Over the past few months, some of these leakers have posted various new stages that are allegedly in the works. Unfortunately, these leakers have been deposed from X, making any attempt to track down primary sources incredibly difficult. This information, like all leaks and rumors, should be taken with a grain of salt, and no official word has been given on the possibility of truth behind these ongoing maps. Still, their potential has raised hope in the eyes of fans.

Most concrete examples

The possible validity of this round of stage leaks ranges from quite likely to head-scratchingly unusual. While all of these maps are still only theoretical, the detail of the artwork and the presence of certain playable characters make some much more likely to be real than others. As with many crossover platformers, most players get their own stage, and most stages belong to a playable fighter. However, MultiVersus is not exactly a perfect example of this trend.

Looney Tunes

Given Looney Tunes' status as the crown jewel of Warner Bros.' empire the franchise already has several fighters and scenes in it MultiVersusbut it's not unreasonable to think that the game has room for more. 2 different maps based on the beloved cartoons have had leaked artwork. The first depicts what appears to be an original location in the Looney Tunes universe that did not appear in the cartoons. The map contains a large platform at ground level and a tree with a tree house, which consists of 4 mini-platforms. Below the ground platform there are two more areas to fight representing gardens that grow carrots. Of course, this stage brings to mind Bugs Bunny, who, despite being a playable fighter in the game since launch and a very competitive character, has yet to have a home stage.

The other leaked Looney Tunesthe scene references the Coyote and the Roadrunner cartoons, set in a dry canyon with a road in the background and a sign that says “Beep Beep.” The actual battle platform stretches from one side of the screen to the other, showing the top of a rocky arch. Two wooden towers have been built on either side and a large pile of Acme TnT forms a center platform. The explosive platform also has a piston, perhaps hinting at a possible stage hazard. If this stage is real, it could also be met with the reveal of either Wille E. Coyote or Roadrunner joining the roster, as those cartoons are currently not in the game, even if they aren't among the expected new characters.

Adventure time

Adventure Time is often cited as a key player in Cartoon Network's renaissance, so unsurprisingly, it's also very much in MultiVersus. Despite having three characters in the roster, the show only has one current stage, so the 2 leaked maps based on the show would even out the numbers if reality. A map is very simple and consists of a large tower forming a central platform and no additional space. In the background, the series' Candy Kingdom and several secondary characters can be seen. The second map's image shows some sort of pub-like place in the candy realm with 4 medium-sized platforms placed along a building representing different floors. Some residents of the Candy Kingdom and artifacts from the show are also on this map, although they only appear to be background images. With a lack of stages per character, it makes sense that these maps could represent home stages for Jake the Dog and the Banana Guard.

Samurai Jack

One of the latest additions to the game, Samurai Jack, has been popular among MultiVersus player. His popularity could lend added credibility to the possible scene that would represent his self-titled show. The actual battle location in this map is very simple, just a flat platform that appears to cover the entire screen. However, it's the art that really makes Samurai Jack's home world stand out. The map's gimmick is that, based on the show's premise of Jack being displaced in time, it would randomly shift between Jack's home in the past and the futuristic setting for most of the show. The contrast between the tranquil Japanese-inspired buildings and the bustling, overgrown forest would give players an interesting experience on an otherwise bland scene.

Acme Labs

Acme Labs' scene leak appears to be a very complete map based on an IP that is currently not represented in the game at all. This lab is home to Pinky and The Brain, two lab mice bent on world domination, who started life in The Animaniacs before they get their own spinoff show. This map takes place on top of a lab table with some kind of electronic device on it. It is unclear if the device would create platforms, but a large hamster wheel in the middle of the table has four dominoes mounted on it that would do so. With the wheel attached to the device, it is speculated that the domino platforms would rotate during the fight. A gimmick like this could even place this MultiVersus scene among fan favorites if it becomes a reality. Although Pinky and the Brain is not included MultiVersus but if this move turns out to be real, they could be included in a later update.

Very popular

A whole host of other possible maps have also been leaked, albeit in much less complete forms. Most notably, Barbie and Harry Potter has been thrown into the list of possible fighters based on potential stages. A bright pink bare-bones model of Barbie's dream house and an unfinished scene that includes floating broomsticks are unmistakable hints, if true. There are also more bare-bones model maps that have fans hoping that some other franchises can be included in later updates. A map that appears to take place on top of unusual cars is believed to be one in the works Mad Max stage. There is also a scene with models that seem similar to the house and windmill from Fashion the cowardly dog. With so many franchises owned by Warner Bros. is almost anything a possibility for MultiVersusso this high amount of speculation is no surprise, although it is important to be aware that all of these leaks are unconfirmed.
