IN Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreenHM movements are navigational aids required to progress through certain parts of the game. However, due to their limited use in battle, players often want to remove HMs and replace them with better moves when the need for them has passed. However, unlike regular moves that can be overwritten at any time by another move, HM moves can only be removed by very specific methods.
While HM slaves are the Pokemon these moves are taught to, sometimes no one can learn a crucial HM move except a core member of the team. In these cases, players must sacrifice a crucial draw slot to make room for the HM draw, but removing it becomes a priority as soon as it is no longer needed for progression. Fortunately, the process of getting rid of HM traits is quite simple if you know where to go.

How to remove HMs in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

IN Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreenTrainers can remove HMs from their Pokémon by talking to Move Deleter in Fuchsia City.
The move deleter is in house directly to the left of the Fuchsia City Pokemon Center. You will be able to reach Fuchsia City by obtaining the Poke Flute from Mr. Fuji on top of the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town and awaken the Snorlax blocking Route 12.
To make a Pokemon forget a HM to move in FRLGplace that Pokemon in your party and talk to Move Deleter. Say yes when he asks if you want one of your Pokemon to forget a move. Select the Pokemon in the party selector and select the HM move you want to remove. After a short dialogue, poof! the move will be deleted and there will be an empty space where it previously was.
If you want your Pokemon to learn about a forgotten move, talk to Move crazy on Two Island (Sevii Islands). He will help your Pokemon relearn old moves in exchange for small mushrooms or large mushrooms. Notably, Move Maniac cannot learn your Pokemon Egg moves.
Day care method to forget HMs in FRLG
If you place a Pokemon that knows a HM move in Day care on Route 5, south of Cerulean City, there is a chance it will forget the HM move as it levels up and learn new moves during its stay. This is the only method other than going to Move Deleter that allows trainers to make their Pokemon forget HM moves.
