On paper, Deadly Kombat and Fall-out are extremely different franchises. While one is a 2D Fighting Game series that follows an NU-Multiversal plot for a tournament that is fought to death, the other is a narrative driven RPG series set in a post-apocalyptic retro-future. The only things that the two franchise parts share are a preference for violence and gore and moments of heavy-in-like humor.
But strangely enough, Deadly Kombat and Fall-out May have just stumbled into the same boat. Both beloved gaming franchise will take a bit of a break, but rather than leaving their fans who want, both have something non-play-related on the horizon.

Although not an Injustice game it may be for the best if Netherrealms next game is not Mortal Kombat
When Mortal Kombat 1 is in a divided state at the moment, developer Netherrealm can find a stronger foot with his next project.
Mortal Kombat and Fallout may have been in the same boat
Mortal Kombat and Fallout is in progress
The Deadly Kombat Franchise has once again been in the middle of a long -term series cycle, where the latest record is criticized by the fans and its predecessors are suddenly considered the better post, even though it is the deteriorated new edition just a few years earlier. Although its initial critical reception was generally positive, Mortal Kombat 1Post-launch has not gone so well, with some microtransaction controversies, shiny seasonal content and a disappointing story extension, all of which hold the latest post back.
Back in December 2024 it was rumored that Mortal Kombat 1Planned third wave of DLC had been canceled. Although no official comments from Warner Bros. or Netherrealm has been made about this alleged third Kombat package, it seems likely that it is likely to be Mortal Kombat 1Support after launch will end, with the upcoming T-1000 fighter, which is probably the last of the game, at least for the foreseeable future.
A few weeks ago, James Gunn and Peter Safran were reportedly to talk to Netherrealm, possibly about some top secret video game projects for the new DCU. If the latest rumors are true and Netherrealm work with another DC game, it is unlikely that fans will see another Deadly Kombat Entry for a long time.
This would put Deadly Kombat franchise in the same boat as Fall-outWho has not had a new main line in a decade. And the fans still have a long wait in front of them, with Fallout 5 Not planned to show up in the store shelves until 2030 at the earliest.
Mortal Kombat and Fallout fans still have something to look forward to
But while new Deadly Kombat and Fall-out Games can be years away, fans of both franchise services will not go completely empty -handed. Both franchise will receive live-action adjustments within next year or so.
Currently set to a theater debut on October 24, 2025, Mortal Kombat 2 will be a sequel to the 2021 Deadly Kombat. Although adaptation of live action from 2021 was far from perfect, it had some strong action sequences and a lot of promises, promise that its sequel could finally deliver on. Mortal Kombat 2The plot is still held under cover, but it has been confirmed that Karl Urban will join the role of Johnny Cage, along with Adeline Rudolph as Kitana and Tati Gabrielle who jade.
Amazon's critically acclaimed live-action Fall-out The show is also to get an invitation, with Season 2 currently filming. No release date has been set for Fall-out Season 2 yet, but it is reportedly focused on a premiere in the middle of 2026.
